LPN- Correctional Medicine 72hrs Biweekly Day/Eve

Location: County Correctional Biweekly Hours: 72.00 Shift: 645a-715pm, 12-hour shifts, every other weekend, holidays

Summary: Assumes responsibilities for direct nursing care of assigned inmates/patients, adolescent through adult, under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician in a correctional facility which may house 1,300-2,000 inmate/patients. Serves an underserved, high-need population experiencing mental health issues, substance use disorders and complex medical needs. Provides nursing services to patients in accordance with the scope of the Licensed Practical Nurse license. Qualifications: Required: Graduate of an approved School of Practical Nursing. Currently licensed as License Practical Nurse by the State of Ohio through the Ohio Board of Nursing, which includes certification to pass medications AND completion of an Ohio Board of Nursing IV therapy course. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certification or obtains within 90 days of hire. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred: One year experience in an in-patient or long term care setting, as appropriate.

Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Ability to lift 250-300 pounds with assistance. Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Requires some exposure to chemicals.
