About the Role:

The Physical Therapy Technician (PT Tech) plays a vital role in supporting physical therapists and ensuring patients receive high-quality rehabilitative care. This position involves assisting with therapeutic exercises, preparing treatment areas, and maintaining equipment to facilitate smooth clinical operations. The PT Tech works closely with patients to provide encouragement and support during therapy sessions, helping to improve their mobility and overall well-being. Additionally, the role requires accurate documentation and communication with the healthcare team to track patient progress and adapt care plans as needed. Ultimately, the PT Tech contributes significantly to enhancing patient outcomes and the efficiency of the physical therapy department.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as a Physical Therapy Technician or completion of a relevant training program.
• Basic knowledge of human anatomy and physical therapy principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a physical therapy or rehabilitation setting.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Additional coursework or certification in patient care or rehabilitation techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assist physical therapists in implementing treatment plans by guiding patients through prescribed exercises and therapeutic activities.
• Prepare and maintain treatment areas and equipment to ensure a safe and clean environment for patient care.
• Monitor patients during therapy sessions, providing support and reporting any changes in condition to the supervising therapist.
• Document patient progress and treatment details accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to coordinate care and provide education on therapy procedures.

Skills:

The PT Tech utilizes strong communication skills daily to interact compassionately with patients and collaborate effectively with therapists and other healthcare professionals. Attention to detail is essential when preparing treatment areas, maintaining equipment, and documenting patient progress to ensure safety and compliance. Physical stamina and dexterity are important for assisting patients with exercises and mobility tasks. Problem-solving skills help the PT Tech adapt to patient needs and respond to any issues that arise during therapy sessions. Additionally, proficiency with technology, such as EMR systems, supports accurate record-keeping and efficient workflow within the clinical setting.
