The St. Louis Public Library’s Central Branch has an opening for a part‑time Information Specialist. The Information Specialist is enthusiastic, patient, and committed to providing excellent customer service and is comfortable working with the public and providing technology‑related assistance. In this role, you will: Assist with reference and readers’ advisory questions for customers via face‑to‑face and telephone interactions. Work at the Circulation Desk as needed, providing circulation services to customers. Provide technology assistance to customers, as needed. Record department statistics for monthly reports. Assist with emptying book drops, handling returns, and processing daily delivery. Other duties as assigned. You will need to be: Friendly, patient, and able to build relationships at all levels. Able to see the big picture and promote consistency and excellence of service. Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to questions from customers and staff Flexible, positive, and willing to work with staff and colleagues to successfully overcome challenges. Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to work with competing tasks and priorities. You will need to have: At least six months of customer service‑related experience, or an associate’s degree, or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school. Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills. Strong organizational skills. Ability to learn and use technology as the Library continues to evolve. One Sunday every six weeks from 1:00 - 5:00 pm. Hours subject to change.
