Business Data Analyst II

The Business Data Analyst will work as part of the Analytics andDecision Support department. The primary purpose of this positionwill be to enable the University through data and information forimproved decision-making. This position will work closely withother business data analysts to develop technical requirements andcomprehensive solutions to extract and transform data from multiplesource systems for business use. The ideal candidate willunderstand the importance of balancing customerrequirements/feedback while also performing data analysis usingvarious tools and techniques. A Business Data Analyst II on the ADS Academics Development teamwill focus on the following areas: Development and maintenance of custom APEX Applications Documentation of team-owned applications and forms Troubleshooting of application and form issues ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Analyze workflow issues and data integrity problems, providerecommendations on resolution, and advise managementaccordingly. 2. Conducting and leading projects to accompany the transformationof Liberty's business processes through the effective collection,processing, and visualization of data. 3. Document and optimize business processes by researching industrybest practices and supporting the development of solutions forcurrent business operations. 4. Develop a deep understanding of core business processes and howperformance is measured, and work with business units to discernstrategic and analytical data and analytics needs and gaps. 5. Utilize diagnostic/predictive/prescriptive analysis to derivebusiness insights and direct/drive action that increases revenue,decreases cost, and/or mitigates risk. 6. Possess a thorough understanding of University systems and datasets, and be able to summarize and describe raw data sets fordepartmental use. Support validation processes to ensure dataaccuracy. 7. Analyze data to align with organizational goals and relaybusiness impacts of findings through data-drivenrecommendations. 8. Collaborate closely with business units and provide expert inputon functional business topics. 9. Streamline business processes by leveraging new or existingtechnology, including application and reporting development, whileadhering to internal development and publication standards. 10. Provide operational support to assigned business units'systems, including technical assistance. 11. Provide regular updates to customers on business processimprovement and new technology activities, maintaining a high levelof customer service. 12. Occasionally works outside of normal business hours to supportsystem upgrades, business unit-specific deployments, or timelytechnology business requirements QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS Education andExperience BDA II Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education andrelevant experience is required. 1-2 years' related experience is required. 1-2 years of SQL experience is preferred. Advanced Excel and Access experience. Experience with reporting tools like Argos or SSRS. Experience working in at least one mainstream industry BIplatform (preferably Tableau). Problem Solving Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, andapply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine andcomplex nature. Physical and Sensory Abilities May be required to travel. May be required to sit to perform deskwork or type on akeyboard. Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectivelycommunicate orally. Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to moveabout the campus. Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order toconduct business. Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS Work Environment The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate. Driving Requirements If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one's personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proof of a valid driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee's position. Time Type Full time Location Hybrid Pay Range Compensation is determined based on factors such as qualifications,experience, education, skills, and certifications, along withUniversity needs and external market conditions. Market benchmarksmay be used, as appropriate, in combination with internal equity toensure pay is fair and aligned with the broader compensationstructure.
