The Onsite Finishing Manager will manage the Finishing area to meet daily production needs and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the production performance on all shifts. All finishing supervisory report to this position.
- Responsible for maintaining all State Requirements in regard to Environmental Issues.
- Shop floor performance measurements meet company expectations. (Output levels, Scrap levels, Expense budgets, Quality levels - PPM perform internal and external, Gross margin performance, Labor budgets)
- Required shop floor disciplines are implemented, controlled, and maintained to assure all aspects of the operation are in control.
- Responsible for the data integrity on all transactions performed from shop floor personnel.
- Responsible for inventory accuracy which is measured through the cycle counting process.
- Responsible for all the job duties and performance levels of the following areas: Nickel, Paint, Zinc, Finishing Supervisor
- All training programs for shop floor personnel would be executed to required levels. Additional education/training required would also be initiated. Recommendations for changes to the training program would also be initiated by this position.
- Member of the scrap team and equally responsible for the control and reduction of plant scrap to meet company objectives.
- Involvement with maintenance projects and priorities through the weekly maintenance project review. Daily interaction with maintenance to assure machine and plant maintenance is adequate to meet performance expectations.
- Responsible for the complete understanding, education, and control over the following MRP Interactive modules: Shop Floor Control, Focused Factory.
- Responsible for executing all shop floor programs to enhance performance.
- Responsible for sign off on all engineering upgrades or equipment introduced to the shop floor. Once a sign off is complete, it becomes a shop floor responsibility to utilize and maintain the upgrade to expected levels. The Finishing Manager is required to work closely with Production Manager, Maintenance Manager, and Engineering Manager to assure adequately performed installations are properly maintained. . Any start up issue is required to be documented and given to Engineering or Maintenance for Corrective Action.
- Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of all Finishing Areas. This includes the plating line, zinc line and paint line and the outside of the building.
- Execution of production schedules initiated by the Materials Department. Reaction to any changes in schedules that may occur throughout a given week.
- Responsible to meet all customer ship schedules on time with expected quality levels.
- The Finishing Manager has the additional responsibility to adhere to and support the AAP quality policy and perform his/her job in accordance to established quality procedures.
- The Finishing Manager will transfer accountability of his/her direct reports to support and adhere to the quality policy and established quality procedures.
Position Supervised or Directed:
Reports directly to the General Manager.
Qualifications, Experience requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience managing in a manufacturing finishing environment.
- A technical degree or certification in Finishing area would be a plus. (Ex. - certification in Production and Inventory Control)
General requirements:
- Able to travel to other divisions when required.
- Detailed and hands-on oriented.
- English fluency.
Working Conditions:
- Office and manufacturing environment.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
- The employee can be exposed to loud noises.
