• Contract Duration: 12 months (contract-to-hire opportunity)
• Pay Rate: $110.00-$120.00 / Hour (USD)
• Travel Requirements: Minimal travel (~quarterly if remote)

Job Summary

The Senior AI Architect designs and delivers scalable, secure AI solutions aligned to enterprise strategy and standards. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with architectural guidance, partnering closely with data, platform, security, and application teams to integrate AI capabilities into core business systems. The Senior AI Architect contributes to solution design, supports implementation teams, and helps mature enterprise AI platforms, patterns, and governance. This role supports the client's AI 'Big Bets' initiatives, particularly within the customer domain, focusing on designing and productionalizing enterprise AI solutions and bridging customer-facing use cases with enterprise AI capabilities and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Architecture

• Design scalable enterprise AI architectures aligned to business and technical needs
• Lead solutioning and prototyping of AI/GenAI systems (including LLM-based solutions)
• Translate requirements into architecture diagrams and solution designs
• Drive AI platform development and enterprise integration across systems (SAP, Salesforce, etc.)
• Ensure adherence to AI governance, risk, and security standards
• Present architecture and solutions for review and enterprise alignment

Scope of Work / Deliverables

• Support AI Big Bet initiatives focused on customer experience (e.g., agentic voice solutions)
• Develop enterprise AI platform capabilities
• Create architecture documentation and solution designs
• Establish integration patterns between AI platforms and enterprise systems
• Assist in evaluating external AI partners and proof-of-value solutions

Day-to-Day Activities

• Participate in daily stand-ups and cross-functional meetings
• Collaborate with customer architects, AI team, and enterprise stakeholders
• Develop architecture diagrams and documentation
• Conduct independent solution design and prototyping work
• Engage with external partners and internal teams
• Partner with data, platform, and application teams to integrate AI capabilities
• Support development teams with guidance on implementation and engineering approaches

Team & Collaboration

• Work in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment with customer architects (2-3 stakeholders), the AI platform team, enterprise AI leadership, and data, integration, and solution architects

Ramp Expectations

• Week 1: Shadow and understand current AI capabilities and priorities
• First Month: Deliver architecture designs for at least 1-2 capabilities

Required Skills

Core AI & ML Skills

• Experience delivering production AI/ML solutions
• Designing and implementing production AI and GenAI solutions (including LLM-based systems)
• Hands-on experience with AI model development, prototyping, and deployment
• Hands-on experience with GenAI and LLM-based systems
• Deep understanding of ML lifecycle (training, inference, evaluation)
• Understanding of ML lifecycle concepts including training, inference, evaluation, and iteration
• Ability to prototype, solution, and guide implementation

AI Architecture & Platform Design

• Strong AI architecture and platform design expertise
• Architecture design for scalable, reliable AI platforms and services
• Applying AI architecture patterns, standards, and guardrails aligned to enterprise strategy
• Experience integrating AI into enterprise systems
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into existing enterprise systems and workflows

Engineering & Implementation Skills

• Strong collaboration with engineering teams to design, build, and optimize AI solutions
• Ability to move from conceptual design to working implementations (hands-on delivery focus)
• Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and modern development practices

Data & Integration Foundations

• Solid understanding of data pipelines, data platforms, and data quality considerations supporting AI workloads
• Experience designing AI solutions that depend on enterprise data assets and analytics platforms

Governance, Risk & Enterprise Alignment

• Strong understanding of AI governance, risk, and guardrails
• Applying architectural standards, patterns, and principles consistently across solutions
• Awareness of AI risks including model performance, bias, explainability, and operational robustness
• Ability to align AI solutions to enterprise technology strategy and business outcomes

Communication & Collaboration

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to translate complex AI concepts into business language
• Translating complex AI concepts into clear architecture guidance for delivery teams and stakeholders
• Partnering effectively across data, platform, security, and application teams
• Contributing to roadmap discussions and technical decisions without owning full domain governance
• Self-starter with strong cross-functional collaboration ability
• Comfortable presenting solutions to leadership

Technical Environment

• Cloud platforms: AWS, GCP (Azure exposure beneficial)
• Data platforms: Databricks (preferred)
• Enterprise systems: SAP, Salesforce, Avaya (nice to have)
• AI frameworks: LLMs, GenAI systems

Preferred Skills

• Experience working in large enterprise environments
• AI certifications (Databricks, AWS, GCP, etc.)
• Utility industry experience (nice to have)
• Experience scaling AI solutions in enterprise settings
• Enterprise systems: Avaya (nice to have)

Important Notes

• This is a contract-to-hire opportunity . Candidates must be eligible to convert within the client's territory if applicable.
• Interview process: 2 rounds (panel interviews) conducted via Microsoft Teams; fast-moving process with immediate review of candidates.
• Red flags that will disqualify candidates: experience limited to proof-of-concept AI work only; lack of enterprise-scale system experience; limited recent exposure to AI technologies; no integration experience between AI and data platforms.
