Job Type: Officer of Administration Bargaining Unit: Regular/Temporary: Regular End Date if Temporary: Hours Per Week: 35 Standard Work Schedule: Building: Lerner Hall Salary Range: $135,000 - $145,000 The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Summary Provide direct clinical services (in person and via telehealth) to patients served by Counseling & Psychological Services with particular attention to students with special clinical needs; identify and manage high-risk cases among the CPS patient population; participate, as needed, in administrative evaluations, and threat assessments; participate in the training and supervision of postdoctoral fellows and junior staff; assume clinical leadership in areas of clinical expertise and specialization. This is an essential, onsite role. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Responsibilities Direct Clinical Service (55%) Conduct treatment planning sessions assessing the initial level of students' acuity, as well as special clinical needs and provider preferences; assign students to appropriate internal level of care (e.g., routine, urgent, trauma intakes, social work consult etc.) or external clinical resources Provide psychological evaluations involving diagnostic assessment based on a review of the presenting problem(s) and of the patient's developmental, social, psychological, academic/employment, and treatment history Provide time-limited psychotherapy to students, particularly those who present at elevated risk or are from traditionally under-served or marginalized populations Facilitate or co-facilitate a therapy group or support space, as service needs and time permit. Maintaintimelyand appropriate clinical records and perform other administrative tasks in support of clinical work. Triage caseload and refer students to other resources, as needed. Meet, as needed, with family members, advisorsand others in support of treatment. Clinical supervision and leadership (20%) Provide one-to-one supervision of postdoctoral fellows and junior staff. Provide the Associate Director of Postdoctoral Training with time-sensitive feedback regarding postdoctoral fellows' progress and complete biannual written appraisals. Attend all supervisory staff meetings. Teach sections of the postdoctoral seminar as assigned by the Associate Director of Postdoctoral Training Provide clinical leadership in one or more of the following capacities consistent with specific skill set and clinic needs: Consultation group co-facilitator Urgent Concerns Team Captain Group Therapy Program Facilitator Facilitator or senior clinician on a Clinical Team or special clinical interest group (e.g., Trauma Support Team, Eating Disorder Team, Behavioral Health Team, TGET, Multicultural Concerns group, etc.) Provide time-sensitive feedback to team members; assist in their written performance appraisals; manage and resolve conflicts that may emerge among team members; help ensure the equitable distribution of clinical responsibilities. Urgent Concerns & Crisis management (15%) Manage emergent situations through direct crisis intervention and therapy with at-risk students and by providing ad hoc consultation and support to junior staff in addressing high-risk situations Provide guidance to campus partners with respect to students of concern and potentially volatile situations Serve, as assigned, on the Crisis Management Team or on at least one other clinical team or special interest group treating students from populations at elevated risk (e.g., students with autism spectrum disorder, international students, first gen students, military veterans, transgender students, etc.) Periodic providing afterhours coverage, serving as back-up to the on-call service and responding to direct calls from campus partners Participate in other risk management functions of CPS, as needed, including, but not limited to, participation in administrative evaluations and threat assessment teams, periodic audits of junior staff charts from a quality assurance and risk management perspective. Quality Management & Data Reporting (5%) In partnership with the CPS leadership, participate in the development, implementation, and reporting of quality management projects in areas of clinical leadership or specialization (e.g., Trauma Support, Urgent Concerns, etc.) Collect and compile data needed for Columbia Health annual report, reaccreditation, and similar documents/presentations. Other duties as assigned (5%) Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical psychology; or Ph.D. in counseling psychology New York State license or eligible Eight years' post-licensure experience in a college or university counseling service/equivalent setting; or 6 years of post-licensure employment with at least four years of supervisory experience in college mental health or a related setting Availability to work outside of ordinary business hours (i.e., 9 to 5 PM) as needed during the academic year Advanced diagnostic and therapeutic skills, particularly using short-term treatment interventions and crisis intervention Experience working with an emerging adult population Demonstrated ability to evaluate and treat serious psychopathology (e.g., psychotic and suicidal patients) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Experience with electronic health records Demonstrable cultural competence Preferred Qualifications Experience in forensic evaluations or emergency psychology Additional years of post-licensure experience Experience supervising post-doctoral trainees and junior staff Inpatient experience Demonstrable training and experience in one or more of the following specialties: eating disorders, alcohol and other substance use disorders, DBT; borderline personality disorders; group therapy; LGBTQ issues, trauma-informed therapy, veterans' concerns, health psychology; acculturative distress Ability to facilitate psychotherapy in one or more languages other than English Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran Columbia University is committed to the hiring of qualified local residents. #J-18808-Ljbffr
