School Monitor An ESS school monitor assists the classroom teacher to provide extra support to students with special needs, promoting maximum academic and personal growth. School m onitor assists with the arrival and departure of personnel, students, and/or visitors at school. Responsibilities include checking people in to the building, monitoring the entrance/exit areas, keeping accurate records of who is in the building, and other responsibilities as directed by the school principal and/or their designee. ESS School Monitors are responsible for monitoring hallways, cafeterias, facilities, and common areas, as directed Responsibilities
- Maintain a consistent and reliable attendance record throughout the year.
- Understand and adhere to all ESS and School District Policies and Procedures.
- Demonstrate cooperation and flexibility in performing other related duties as assigned by school administration and ESS.
- Report for duty on time and perform all responsibilities in a safe manner.
- Assist with bus loading and unloading during arrival and departure of students.
- Maintain a clean and presentable work area.
- Perform temperature checks, and other health-related checks, on any individual entering a school, when directed.
- Follow school protocol.
- Monitor student behavior in various non-classroom settings, such as hallways, cafeteria, facilities, etc.
- Serve as a role model for students in demonstrating a positive attitude, good moral character, and integrity
- Complete all required paperwork and submit to the appropriate employee/department in a timely manner
- Perform duties typically in school settings, to include: classrooms, gymnasium, cafeteria, auditorium, and recreational areas
- Frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting, up to approximately 30 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment may be required; other physical activities may be required
- Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels
- Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities
- Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise and hazards
- Occasional movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required
- Daily personal and close contact with children to provide classroom management and learning environment support is required on assigned days
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
- Valid NJ criminal history letter
- Negative tuberculosis test required prior to start of employment
- Disclosure and review of applicant's employment history
