Fleet Mechanic

City of Neenah Mechanical TechnicianThis position performs skilled mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of City Vehicles and various associated equipment. This work is performed under the direction of the Fleet Supervisor.Key responsibilities include:Repair, maintain, and troubleshoot various vehicles and heavy equipment (e.g., graders, loaders, plow trucks, recycling trucks).Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.Repair diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, brakes, clutches, and related systems.Adjust and calibrate components such as brakes, engines, and hydraulic/electrical systems.Perform preventative maintenance (e.g., oil changes, tune-ups, filter replacements, inspections).Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records for all equipment.Maintain reliable attendance and availability for on-call emergency response.Qualifications include:Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalentKnowledge in diesel engine repair, heavy equipment, auto repair, or weldingValid Wisconsin CDL is required with B, C, and D with air brake and tanker endorsements or ability to obtain within 1 year of hirePreferred Qualifications 1 to 3 years of vocational schooling in diesel engine repair, heavy equipment, auto repair, or weldingASE CertificationExperience in welding (rod and wire feed), cutting torches, plasma cutters, braising, hydraulics and pneumatics, or a combination of schooling, training, and/or experience.Salary and benefits include:Typical Hours: Monday through Friday 8am-4pm with a paid lunch and the opportunity for overtime. Guaranteed 40 hours per week.Pay Range: $30.59- $33.96 depending on experience. Salary range reflects base to midpoint of the pay scale.
