Through curiosity, inquiry, self and system reflection, we disrupt inequitable systems so that students graduate in four years, college, career and or life ready.Job Summary: Reporting to the Director of Access, Equity and Compliance, the Speech & Language Pathologist plays a key role in meeting our commitment to support students’ journey toward empowerment. The SLP is responsible for supporting speech and language services at three campuses. They will oversee Speech Language Pathology Assistants (SPLAs) as the SPLAs screen, evaluate, and provide therapy, speech correction, and special training to students with a variety of communication disabilities. The SLP is responsible for monitoring, assessing, and adjusting therapy in response to student needs and regularly meeting and conferring with parents, staff, faculty, administrators, and others concerning the speech and other communication needs and issues of students.What You Will DoProgram Supervision & Service DeliverySupervise and support Speech Language Pathologist Assistants in screening, evaluating, and providing therapy, speech correction, and specialized training to students with a variety of communication disabilities.Oversee the delivery of individual and group treatment and instruction for students with diverse speech needs, while ensuring the establishment and maintenance of treatment goals and therapeutic objectives designed to improve student communication skills and enhance overall learning.Coordinate the speech therapy program with other school programs and services; report educational and therapeutic progress of students to school personnel.Maintain current knowledge of program rules, regulations, requirements, and best practices related to speech and language services and special education.Assessment, Evaluation & Eligibility DeterminationMonitor, assess and adjust therapy in response to student issues, needs and progress; administer, score and interpret diagnostic tests to identify language, speech, hearing and other communication needs of students; place students in appropriate treatment and therapeutic programs; develop and implement remedial strategies, goals, objectives, schedules and techniques; present assessment results during IEP team meetings.Prepare and deliver oral presentations of assessment findings, recommendations, and student progress during IEP meetings and other multidisciplinary team meetings.Assist teachers in screening referrals for speech therapy; observe and assess student conditions, diagnose speech problems and recommend student placement in appropriate school, special education and other programs; determine eligibility for services and therapy; follow up to assure students receive appropriate services.Review and analyze student assessments and records; identify, diagnose and formulate educational, treatment and development plans and strategies for various communication disabilities and other student issues.Conduct assessments, determine eligibility, and develop recommendations in compliance with applicable State Education Code, IDEA, and other federal and state laws and regulations.Therapeutic Intervention & Student SupportCoordinate and oversee therapeutic student drills, exercises, practices and assignments; work with individual students to correct or minimize speech disabilities.Provide therapeutic intervention using developmentally appropriate practices, child guidance principles, and strategies responsive to the social, emotional, and communication needs of students with special education services.Consultation, Collaboration & Technical AssistanceProvide consultation and technical assistance to students, parents, staff, administrators and outside agencies concerning speech and other communication disabilities, therapy, instruction and related activities; respond to inquiries and provide information concerning plans, issues, problems, strategies, goals, objectives, principles, practices, techniques and procedures.Parent & Stakeholder CommunicationMeet and confer with parents, staff, faculty, administrators and others concerning speech and other communication needs and issues of students; respond to parent requests; update parents concerning student progress; resolve therapeutic issues and conflicts in a proper and timely manner.Provide recommendations to parents concerning methods for enhancing the communication and educational progress of students; refer parents to community resources, health agencies and outside therapy services as appropriate.Communicate with parents, staff, administrators, faculty and various outside agencies to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns.Documentation & RecordkeepingPrepare and maintain a variety of records, reports and files related to students, disabilities, assessments, therapy, progress and assigned activities.Equipment, Technology & Operational DutiesPrepare and maintain a variety of records, reports and files related to students, disabilities, assessments, therapy, progress and assigned activities.Learn, implement, and effectively utilize adaptive technology, augmentative communication devices, and electronic communication aids to support students with complex communication needs.Our Ideal TeammateDeeply mission-driven and believe Accelerated can and will meet audacious goals.
