Sign-On Bonus $7,500 (eligible applicants) Schedule Monday through Friday 40 hours per week (days) Every 3rd weekend required Holiday rotation required (3 per year) Overview Memorial Hospital Belleville is an acute care hospital offering medical and surgical services plus critical and emergency care, including children’s emergency care. The facility provides patients with a full complement of diagnostic and treatment services, including heart and vascular care, and is accredited by the American College of Radiology as a Lung Cancer Screening Center. Laboratory Department The laboratory offers a wide variety of assays and procedures for diagnosis and treatment of most disease states to inpatients and outpatients. Services include phlebotomy, hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, point‑of‑care and pathology. Role Purpose The Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) II performs specimen processing and routine/complex testing on blood and other specimens, requiring knowledge of quality control, basic instrument maintenance, procedures and reference ranges. The position maintains appropriate documentation of all activities and demonstrates good clinical laboratory practice. Responsibilities Operate all instrumentation to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results. Train new laboratory personnel in methods, procedures, and use of equipment specific to the assigned area. Perform quality controls for all equipment, troubleshoot malfunctioning instrumentation, assess technical problems, evaluate possible solutions, and choose an appropriate course of action. Report and maintain records of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turnaround times for routine testing and statistical tests. Participate in performance improvement activities and initiatives by diagnosing and resolving problems and managing quality functions in an organized and timely fashion.
