Maintenance Manager

Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000 annually Position Overview The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the day‑to‑day maintenance activities supporting a large‑scale, mission‑critical transportation technology and revenue collection system. This role oversees a team of maintenance technicians and supervisors while collaborating closely with operations, technical support, software, and infrastructure teams. The Maintenance Manager will provide leadership, operational expertise, and strategic guidance to ensure the highest levels of system availability, reliability, and performance. This position requires a hands‑on leader who can mentor and develop employees, drive operational excellence, and ensure compliance with all performance requirements. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management Lead, coach, mentor, and develop maintenance personnel to maximize team performance and career growth. Manage staffing levels, schedules, and resource allocation to support 24/7 operational requirements. Foster a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Conduct performance evaluations, establish development plans, and support succession planning initiatives. Coordinate and manage cross‑functional resources as needed to meet operational objectives. Operations & Maintenance Management Direct all hardware and field maintenance operations in accordance with company standards and operational requirements. Ensure 24x7 system uptime and operational readiness across all roadside equipment, field devices, and supporting systems. Lead preventive and corrective maintenance programs, including daily, weekly, monthly, semi‑annual, and annual maintenance activities. Monitor system health, performance metrics, and maintenance trends to proactively identify and resolve issues. Drive rapid response and resolution of system outages and equipment failures. Ensure all operational performance metrics are achieved and maintained. Collaborate with Operations, Technical Operations, Software Operations, Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to support system enhancements and operational initiatives. Support budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning, and resource management activities. Review engineering drawings, system designs, and change orders to ensure maintainability and operational efficiency. Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to improve reliability, reduce downtime, and optimize maintenance performance. Analyze operational data and develop corrective action plans to improve service delivery and system performance. Lead the planning and prioritization of maintenance activities based on operational needs, available resources, and system requirements. Communication & Reporting Provide clear and timely communication regarding maintenance activities, operational status, risks, and resolutions. Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and operational documentation. Prepare and present operational performance updates to leadership. Ensure all maintenance activities are properly tracked and documented. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electronics, Industrial Technology, Operations Management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered. Minimum 5 years of maintenance management experience supporting complex operational systems. Minimum 3 years of leadership experience managing technical or field service teams. Experience managing 24/7 mission‑critical operations and maintenance environments. Strong understanding of preventive maintenance programs, asset management, and operational performance metrics. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and operational issues simultaneously. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Valid driver's license with the ability to travel locally to field sites as needed. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting transportation systems, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), traffic systems, telecommunications, utilities, or similar infrastructure environments. Knowledge of service‑level performance requirements and operational metrics. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and workforce planning. PMP, CMRP, or other maintenance or operations‑related certifications are a plus.
