Physical Therapist (PT)

Job Description

This position involves delegation of responsibilities to the Physical Therapist Assistant and Aides. The role is patient-focused and incorporates assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in accordance with physical therapy standards, physician orders, and governing policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• (20%) Evaluate the patient's function through formal/informal testing measures to determine skeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular status.
• (20%) Develop a goal-specific treatment regime based on assessment data and the patient's tolerance to implement the treatment plan as prescribed.
• (20%) Submit a written treatment regime to be included as part of the treatment plan authorized and coordinated with the physician. Update the plan of care as necessary to reflect changes in patient status. Co-sign verbal orders received by physical therapist assistants as required.
• (20%) Create a treatment schedule with specific frequency and duration to be discussed with the patient, family, and/or caregiver, and coordinated with clinical support staff.
• (20%) Educate the patient, family, and/or caregiver about the pathology or condition, treatment alternatives, prognosis, and rationale for treatment through various methods, including rest, exercise, modalities, and other indicated interventions.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Physical Therapist is required.
• Outpatient experience is required.
• Acute care experience is highly preferred.
• Must possess an active Michigan PT License.
• Certification in BLS (AHA) is required.

This role guarantees 40 hours per week with a Monday to Friday shift schedule. No weekends or on-call duties are expected.
