Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Use specific knowledge of the visitor center's policies, objectives and operating methods in one or more of the following program areas: recreation management, natural resources management, visitor assistance, and interpretation.

Duties

Help

• Assists in planning, developing, and implementing the Interpretive Program at the Visitor Center.
• Responsible for day-today operations of the Visitor Center.
• Coordinates and carries out events such as programs for schools, civic, scout, senior and other organized groups.
• Provides visitor assistance and is responsible for ongoing observation for public safety hazards and hazardous activities.
• Provides recreation services such as conducting land and water patrols to enforce rules/regulations, observes swimming and boating operations, etc.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must possess a valid driver's license to operate motor vehicles in accomplishing assigned duties.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid CPR certificate and or first responder certificate within one year of appointment.
• May be required to satisfactorily complete a one-year probationary period.
• The physical requirements of this position may include prolonged standing, bending, walking through rough and uneven terrain, climbing ladders, avoiding obstructions, and carrying or moving objects 40lbs. without assistance.
• May be required to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.
• Required to wear the appropriate uniform for this position. The NRM uniform shall be worn in accordance with EP 1130-2-550 Chapter 8.
• Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
• This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program
• This position requires a physical annually
• IAW DoDM 8140.03 and supplemental Army guidance, the employee must obtain and maintain the following requirements for each Cyber work role. (See additional information for more details)

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-05 Minimum Qualifications

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes recreation management, interpretive or natural resources management activities, visitors assistance and exhibits and implementation of policy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

OR

Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours of related course work in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources.

Combination of Education and Experience : A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education by 120. Add the two percentages.

GS-07 Minimum Qualifications

Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience which includes recreation management, interpretive or natural resources management activities, visitors assistance and exhibits and implementation of policy and programming. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

OR

Education: One full year of graduate level education with major study in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources.

OR

Superior Academic Achievement: Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above. Superior Academic Achievement is based on:(1) Class Standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses;

OR

(2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - Applicants must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.;

• In accordance with DoDM 8140.03 and supplemental Army guidance, the employee must obtainand maintain the following requirements for each Cyber work role (except Data, AI, and/orSoftware Engineering) at the assigned proficiency level: 1) Foundational qualificationrequirements within 9 months, 2) Resident qualification requirements within 12 months, 3) 20hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) per work role code (which can overlap).
