Senior Electronics Engineer

Mattel is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support design, prototyping, and testing of electronic toys and games for brands such as Barbie, Monster High, Hot Wheels, Jurassic World, Minecraft, Dark Knight, WWE, and other Entertainment properties. The role collaborates with designers, engineers, and cross‑functional teams in El Segundo, East Aurora and China. Responsibilities • Design and prototype analog and digital electronic circuits, firmware, and software for toy products. • Lead new electronic item development from concept through production. • Work cross‑functionally with design, project management, packaging, and other teams. • Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate new product concepts. • Bring an inquisitive, inventive mindset to daily projects for the world’s largest toy company. Qualifications 3–8 years of hands‑on experience in design, prototyping, and troubleshooting analog and digital electronic circuits. Experience defining system architecture and components for hardware, firmware, and software. Self‑starting, self‑motivating, and a strong team player. Project management skills with the ability to lead multiple concurrent projects. Familiarity with ARM, 6502, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar embedded systems for toys/handheld devices. Experience with electromechanical systems, audio, RF, communications, and signal processing. Proficiency in embedded systems software development. Experience in product development within the consumer electronics industry. Ability to work cross‑functionally with Design, Project Management, Packaging, etc. Strong communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Growth mindset: curiosity, continuous learning, and self‑improvement. Preferred Qualifications BS in Electrical Engineering. Ability to pitch toy concepts to peers and upper management. Experience in product development within the toy industry. Experience working with vendors and PCBA providers. Vendor evaluation, software testing, and debug experience. Desired Experience Building prototypes based on input from non‑technical partners. Mechatronic/animatronic system design. Displays. MEMS motion sensors & microphones. Wireless systems (BT, WiFi, 2.4G). Microprocessors and peripherals. Pay Range: Base pay will be determined based on candidate’s work location, skills, and experience.
