Patron Services Assistant (Part-time, 25 hours/week)

Do you enjoy interacting with people and responding to all kinds of questions? The Mount Prospect Public Library is looking for a Patron Services Assistant to staff our front desk. In this role, you’ll ensure our patrons feel welcomed, heard, and helped by greeting them, answering their questions, pointing them in the right direction, and registering them for programs. When you aren’t at the front desk, you’ll perform office tasks such as answering the phone and handling mail. SCHEDULE Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9am to 5pm Weekend rotation, approximately one in every 4 weekends: Saturday 9am to 5pm & Sunday 11am to 5pm BENEFITS Paid time off (vacation, sick, holiday, and birthday) Dental, life, and pet insurance Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) participation 457 retirement savings plan PURPOSE Under the direct supervision of the Head of Patron Services, the Patron Services Assistant greets patrons and directs inquiries in person and via telephone including program registrations and scheduling meeting room reservations. This position has extensive public contact and performs clerical support in a busy environment. EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma (or equivalent work experience) required.
