Nine Engineering is a Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) design company providing engineering and utility design services to clients in the natural gas and telecommunications industries . We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer with an active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Florida to join our team and take a key role in reviewing, approving, and sealing engineering designs.

Position Overview

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for the technical review, approval, and professional sealing of engineering designs prepared by Nine Engineering. This position requires a strong understanding of civil engineering principles, utility infrastructure, and design standards, with particular emphasis on subsurface utility engineering, natural gas, and telecommunications projects .

The successful candidate will serve as a senior technical resource, ensuring that engineering plans and deliverables meet applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and professional engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Review civil and utility engineering designs prepared by the Nine Engineering design team.
• Provide technical oversight and guidance on SUE, gas, and telecommunications utility projects .
• Verify designs for accuracy, constructability, compliance, and adherence to applicable engineering standards.
• Review calculations, plans, profiles, details, and other engineering documents.
• Coordinate with project managers, designers, field personnel, clients, utility owners, and other engineering professionals.
• Identify design conflicts, deficiencies, and potential construction issues and provide appropriate engineering solutions.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable Florida laws, regulations, codes, utility standards, and client specifications .
• Provide professional engineering review and seal/stamp drawings and documents when appropriate and within the scope of the engineer's professional responsibility .
• Approve final engineering deliverables prior to submission to clients, permitting agencies, or other stakeholders.
• Maintain quality-control and quality-assurance standards for engineering deliverables.
• Support the development and improvement of company design standards, procedures, and quality-control processes.
• Provide technical mentorship and direction to engineering and design staff.
• Participate in client and project meetings as needed.
• Assist with resolving technical issues that arise during design and construction.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited engineering program.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Florida .
• Experience with civil engineering design and/or utility infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of engineering plans, specifications, calculations, and construction documents.
• Ability to independently review and evaluate engineering designs.
• Strong knowledge of applicable engineering codes, standards, and regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project managers, engineers, designers, and clients.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

• Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE)
• Natural gas utility design
• Telecommunications / fiber-optic utility design
• Utility coordination
• Utility relocation design
• Civil site and infrastructure design
• Utility permitting
• Utility construction plans and specifications
• Quality assurance / quality control of engineering deliverables
• Experience working with utility owners, municipalities, and transportation agencies
