Sheet Metal Mechanic, 2nd Shift (Onsite)

What You Will Do Perform complex hand or machine sheet metal operations to form, fit, fabricate and repair a variety of developmental aerospace details, parts, assemblies and related tools. Assist other trades in fabricating complex major assemblies involving sheet metal operations or techniques. Set up and operate fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, bending rolls, and punch and drill presses to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal. Safely utilize hand tools including grinders, drills, hammers, punches and the like. Use a wide variety of measurement tools and possess in‑depth knowledge of them. Create drawings or sketches from oral descriptions of objects or objectives. Read and visualize three‑dimensional objects from drawings, sketches or blueprints. Apply basic math to visualize 3D designs and work in adverse conditions such as confined spaces, working at heights from ladders or man lifts, and with aging infrastructure. Work the 3rd shift (Midnight – 7:00 am), working 6.5 hours for pay of 8 hours. Qualifications You Must Have High School Diploma or GED. 2+ years of trades training. Ability to operate sheet metal working machines and use a variety of precision measuring instruments such as rotary tables, micrometers, vernier calipers, and trammel points. Qualifications We Prefer 5+ years’ experience working with sheet metal. 1+ year of experience using shop mathematics including trigonometry and geometry, and the ability to work from complicated drawings and sketches. 1+ year of experience using measuring instruments such as micrometers, scales, protractors, calipers, and dividers. Under direction of a leader/supervisor, make and repair sheet metal parts and assemble structures using welding, riveting, seaming, and other standard metal joining techniques. Work from drawings and sketches or verbal descriptions to layout work, obtain material and tools, and set up and operate metal forming and cutting equipment.
