Job Title: Respiratory Therapist - ICU Job Summary: This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team in Miami, Florida. The role involves providing advanced respiratory care to critically ill adult patients within a dynamic acute care hospital setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in managing complex respiratory conditions and supporting life‑sustaining therapies. Key Responsibilities Initiate, monitor, and manage mechanical ventilation, non‑invasive ventilation (NIV), and other life support equipment. Administer aerosolized medications, medical gases, and other respiratory treatments. Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) draws, analysis, and interpretation. Conduct patient assessments, evaluate treatment effectiveness, and modify care plans as needed in collaboration with the medical team. Manage artificial airways, perform tracheostomy care, and assist with bronchoscopies. Respond to rapid responses, code blues, and other emergent situations, providing critical respiratory interventions. Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions and treatment plans. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient care activities. Required Qualifications Active and unrestricted Respiratory Therapist license in the State of Florida. Minimum of 1‑2 years of recent, acute care experience as a Respiratory Therapist, preferably in an ICU setting. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. Preferred Qualifications Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential. Experience with various ventilator models and advanced respiratory modalities. Skills & Competencies Proficiency in mechanical ventilation management (invasive and non‑invasive). Expertise in airway management and emergency intubation assistance. Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities in high‑pressure environments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple patients effectively. Adaptability to changing patient conditions and unit demands. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems. Shift Details Shift Type: Flexible, 12‑hour shifts. Days per Week: 3 days per week. Rotation: Rotating shifts (may include days, nights, and weekends). Call Requirements: Not specified. Weekend Rotation: Not specified.
