Nurse Practitioner

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive care to the patients visiting the Genesis Urgent Care center. The NP provides a broad range of evaluation and procedures within the NPs scope of practice that would otherwise be performed by the physician.

Essential duties include working with the collaborating physician and department administration to meet needs of patients and the organization, performing pertinent physical exams and clinical evaluations of assigned patients and documenting findings in the medical record, performing procedures within the NP scope of practice as required for diagnostic and/or therapeutic purposes, ordering and reviewing laboratory tests and diagnostic studies as required, coordinating transition to the patients primary care physician or other appropriate providers for care of chronic conditions or otherwise that cannot be met in the urgent care clinic, maintaining balance between outcome, cost and process, working closely with patients and families to provide education on wellness, prevention and early intervention, functioning as clinician, collaborator, consultant, and educator to accomplish desired clinical outcomes, functioning as a self-directed professional using knowledge of nursing theory and advanced practice, and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of physical assessment, diagnostic studies, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology and pharmacology.

Qualifications include a BSN or Bachelors degree in a health-related field and current Ohio RN License, certification as Nurse Practitioner, minimum five (5) years clinical experience, valid certificate to prescribe in accordance with sections 4732.48-4723.483 of the Ohio Revised Code, Rules of Ohio Board of Nursing and in the Ohio Board of Nursing formulary, must have Adult Certification or Family Practice Certification, current CPR certification, one year of experience in acute care setting, and current ACLS certified, ability to communicate well in an oral and written manner, as well as the ability to observe, assess, guide, and evaluate others, ability to read, calculate and prepare medication, as well as the ability to observe and analyze any resulting reactions and apply clinical knowledge, ability to collect data, interpret findings, set priorities and carry out established plan, and demonstrated competence in age-specific patient care.

Working conditions/physical requirements include ability to sit, stand, stoop, push, pull, bend, and walk for extended periods of time, ability to lift 25 pounds to waist level, and will be assigned to be on call as needed.
