The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the tenure track. Applicants must have an Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree. Applicants must show evidence of strong postdoctoral or fellowship experience, demonstrating excellent research accomplishments, intellectual independence, and leadership promise. They must have a clear record of productivity and ingenuity, a high likelihood of securing extramural funding, and a desire to take advantage of our unique collaborative environment.

Teaching responsibilities may include providing an outstanding training environment for undergraduate, graduate and medical students, as well as clinical and postdoctoral fellows.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include establishing and maintaining an independent, extramurally funded research program. We aim to recruit an outstanding faculty colleague who is using molecular tools and innovative technologies to probe the mechanistic basis of pediatric diseases. We are particularly interested in candidates developing or leveraging platform technologies in areas such as functional genomics, (epi)transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, genome and RNA engineering, chemical biology, protein design, human organoids, and advanced molecular and cellular imaging, although we welcome applications from exceptional candidates pursuing other innovative and impactful research directions.

We expect the successful candidate to engage broadly across diverse research communities and build upon existing Departmental and institutional strengths in areas including immunology, infectious disease, cancer biology, neuroscience, RNA biology, epigenetics, and cellular architecture, with the strongest candidates demonstrating potential to bridge between these research areas. The position is within the Experimental Pathology Division at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Faculty within the Division are active members of many of the centers and institutes that span research across the University of Pennsylvania system. As a CHOP-based Penn faculty member, the candidate will have access to the rich research resources, core facilities, and collaborative opportunities offered across the entire University of Pennsylvania/CHOP campus. In addition to resources available to all Penn investigators, the CHOP Research Institute offers unique advantages such as close ties to clinicians and access to patient materials.
