Position Summary

Administer IV therapies including biologics, chemotherapy/biotherapy, antibiotics, blood products, and hydration.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform pre-infusion assessments, verify orders, and ensure appropriate lab parameters are met
• Monitor patients throughout infusions and post-infusion for complications
• Initiate and maintain peripheral IV access
• Access and manage central lines, including PICC lines and implanted ports
• Educate patients and caregivers on: Infusion treatments and expected side effects; Signs/symptoms requiring urgent evaluation; Central line and port care/maintenance
• Reinforce adherence to therapy and follow-up care plans
• Participate in interdisciplinary care planning

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

Experience

Minimum 1-2 years of RN experience (infusion, oncology, or acute care preferred)

Prior outpatient infusion, oncology, or specialty infusion experience

Experience managing central lines and implanted ports

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to manage continuous and intermittent infusions with high attention to medication accuracy and safety
• Ability to recognize and rapidly respond to infusion-related reactions, including hypersensitivity and anaphylaxis
• Ability to initiate emergency interventions per protocol
• Ability to collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and nursing staff to optimize care
• Ability to coordinate scheduling and sequencing of therapies to ensure efficiency and safety
• Demonstrated competency in IV insertion and vascular access

Licenses and Certifications

• Current New York State RN license (or ability to obtain)
• BLS Certification (issued by the American Heart Association)
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification/Certified registered nurse infusion (preferred).

Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
