SUMMARY / OBJECTIVES The Universal Banker serves as a full service, single point of contact in the branch for SouthState customers’ financial needs. The position operates in the dual capacity of a Teller and FSR providing exceptional customer service in both transactional and account management. The Universal Banker seeks to attract, expand, and retain customer relationships and is responsible for contributing to the financial growth of the bank. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Serves customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to the South State Bank Service Standards. Knows and understands the products and services offered by the Bank, including facts, features, benefits, regulations, price structure, and service definitions. Identifies customer needs and expectations by listening for clues. Seeks opportunities to expand customer relationships by making referrals as outlined in the role goals. Presents a neat and professional personal appearance in accordance with bank policy. Ensures compliance with all banking regulations, including Regulation CC and the Bank Secrecy Act. Develops a strong understanding of customer‑facing technology and enrolls customers in self‑service options. TELOER DUTIES Processes transactions for savings, checking, and loan accounts. Maintains a neat and orderly work area. Assists in guiding and training new tellers. Allows customers access to safe deposit boxes. Cashes checks and processes savings withdrawals within assigned limits and procedures. Sells certified checks. Balances transactions daily. Services/balances ATM as needed. Utilizes the branch capture system. Follows policies and procedures to complete transactions, minimize operational errors, and maintain workflow. Follows the branch’s security and audit procedures and operates security devices. FSR DUTIES Opens new deposit accounts and understands the bank’s products and financial services. Handles other services such as stop payments, wire transfers, and maintenance functions within assigned limits. Explains policies and procedures, keeping in mind customers’ unfamiliarity with them. Resolves customer problems and complaints with courtesy and discretion, directing difficult issues to appropriate sources. Considers problems and complaints as opportunities to satisfy customers and promote additional services. Demonstrates knowledge of financial services offered by the bank. Shows sincere appreciation for each customer’s time and business. Provides a business card if not already given. Follows the branch’s security and audit procedures and operates security devices. Ensures branch records, reports, and other correspondence from customer development attempts are correct, timely, and properly distributed. UNIVERSAL BANKER FUNCTIONS One year of teller or cash handling experience and six months of customer relationship building or sales experience. Demonstrated expertise in Teller II and basic FSR job functions. Additional responsibilities may include Vault or Back‑Up Vault responsibilities. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS High School diploma or equivalent. Cash handling, sales, and customer service experience. Previous banking experience preferred. Good interpersonal skills. Good computer skills. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/CLASSES The SouthState Way. New Team Member Orientation. Teller Foundations. Banker Foundations. All assigned Regulatory Compliance Training. Acknowledgement of all policies through DocuSign as assigned. Additional training may be required depending on experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand and/or sit for long periods, and effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, reports, and cash denominations. WORK ENVIRONMENT This position is most likely in an open lobby area with an individual workstation.
