Safety & Compliance Director – Regions 5 & 6

Central Nebraska | Flexible within CVA Regions 5 & 6

Looking for a safety leadership role where you can work directly with people, solve real operational problems, and make an impact across multiple locations? Join Central Valley Ag as a Safety & Compliance Director supporting Regions 5 and 6.

This is a regional, field-focused position and is not tied to Shelby, Nebraska. The successful candidate may be based at a CVA location within Regions 5 and 6, covering an area roughly from Seward to Aurora to Columbus, Nebraska , with regular travel throughout the region.

At Central Valley Ag, safety is part of how we operate every day. In this role, you’ll partner with location managers, employees, and regional leaders to identify risk, strengthen safe work practices, solve problems, and help ensure our teams have the tools and knowledge to work safely.

This is a role for someone who is comfortable taking initiative, managing multiple priorities, making sound decisions, and having direct conversations when needed. You’ll spend significant time in our locations understanding operations firsthand, coaching employees and leaders, conducting audits and investigations, providing training, and turning regulatory requirements into practical solutions.

What You’ll Do

Partner with managers and employees to strengthen safety practices across Regions 5 and 6

Regularly visit CVA locations to understand operations, identify risks, and help teams address safety concerns

Interpret and apply OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable safety and regulatory requirements

Conduct safety audits and inspect facilities, equipment, and work practices to identify hazards and compliance concerns

Develop and follow through on corrective actions to address identified risks

Investigate incidents and near misses, identify contributing factors, and implement measures to prevent recurrence

Coordinate and lead employee safety training on regulations, hazardous conditions, equipment, and safe work practices

Provide practical coaching, guidance, and technical support to employees and managers

Help lead safety committees, initiatives, and regional improvement efforts

Partner with Operations leadership on both immediate safety concerns and longer-term priorities

Coordinate return-to-work activities following workplace injuries

Maintain required safety documentation, supplies, and equipment

Support other safety and compliance initiatives as business needs evolve

Why This Job

Make a visible impact on employee safety across multiple CVA locations

Work directly with employees and operational leaders rather than managing safety from behind a desk

Have the independence to identify problems, recommend solutions, and drive follow-through

Help shape safety practices across two CVA regions

Work across grain, agronomy, and other areas of agricultural operations

Use both technical knowledge and leadership skills to solve real-world problems

Join a stable, growing farmer-owned cooperative with opportunities for continued professional development

What We’re Looking For

Four-year degree in safety, agriculture, occupational health, environmental science, or a related field and/or 2 to 5 years of relevant experience

Experience in occupational safety, agricultural operations, compliance, or a related environment

Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other workplace safety requirements

Ability to apply regulations and safety standards in a practical operating environment

Strong judgment and the confidence to address safety concerns directly when necessary

Comfortable taking initiative and working independently across multiple locations

Able to manage several priorities while maintaining accuracy, organization, and follow-through

Strong communication skills with the ability to coach, train, and influence employees and leaders

Ability to build productive working relationships while maintaining high safety and compliance standards

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify root causes and corrective actions

Willingness to regularly travel throughout Regions 5 and 6
