Lime Rock Park , one of North America’s most iconic road racing venues, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our Executive Leadership Team and help shape the financial future of this legendary destination. This is not your typical Controller position. The Financial Controller is responsible for leading all accounting and financial operations while providing strategic financial guidance to executive leadership. This hands‑on role manages a small accounting team and oversees accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, internal controls, payroll oversight, vendor management, and financial compliance. The Controller partners closely with department leaders across the organization to drive profitability, improve operational efficiency, and support informed business decisions. This position requires an individual who is equally comfortable developing financial strategy and rolling up their sleeves to assist with daily accounting operations when needed. Responsibilities Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close. Manage and mentor a small accounting team while remaining actively involved in daily accounting functions. Support accounts payable and receivable processes as needed, ensuring invoices, deposits, payments, and vendor transactions are processed accurately and timely. Prepare monthly financial statements, executive reports, cash flow analyses, annual budgets, forecasts, and profitability reporting. Monitor and analyze revenue generated from ticket sales, sponsorships, concessions, merchandise, hospitality, venue rentals, catering, parking, and special events. Partner with Operations, Sales, Food & Beverage, Facilities, and Executive Leadership to monitor budgets, control expenses, and maximize financial performance. Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and approval workflows. Manage cash flow, customer deposits, vendor payments, settlements, and working capital. Coordinate financial reporting and reconciliation for event settlements, promoter agreements, sponsorship contracts, and third‑party vendors. Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, licensing requirements, audits, insurance reporting, and other regulatory obligations. Oversee insurance administration, including policy renewals, certificates of insurance, claims support, premium tracking, and reporting. Lead the annual budgeting process, capital planning, labor forecasting, and financial modeling. Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and financial partners. Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Identify financial risks and operational inefficiencies while recommending solutions that improve profitability and performance. Partner with Human Resources and Payroll to ensure payroll accuracy and timely processing of employee onboarding. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required. CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred. Minimum of five years of progressive accounting or finance leadership experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Finance role. Experience within hospitality, entertainment, sports, event venues, food & beverage, or similar operational environments strongly preferred. Thorough knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, tax compliance, and audit preparation. Experience overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, revenue recognition, cash management, and general ledger accounting. Proficiency with accounting software, ERP systems, POS platforms, ticketing systems, and advanced Microsoft Excel. Experience working with technology vendors and third‑party service providers is a plus. Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, event‑driven environment. The ideal candidate will possess: Strong business acumen and the ability to partner effectively with operational leaders. Experience with event settlements, deferred revenue, sponsorship accounting, and high-volume transactional environments. The ability to translate financial information into meaningful business recommendations. Exceptional integrity, professionalism, and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
