Senior Project Manager– Industrial Power Generation

Position Overview:

The Senior Project Manager – Industrial Power Generation is a senior project execution, coaching, mentoring, training, and process implementation role supporting standby industrial power generation projects. This position is accountable for managing a defined portfolio of complex, high-value, or high-risk assignments while helping establish consistent project management standards, strengthen execution discipline, develop project management capability across the team, and support performance against defined operational and financial objectives. The role requires a high level of technical expertise in electrical power systems and generator applications, sound commercial acumen, strong influence and communication skills, and the ability to facilitate continuous improvement across project execution activities without serving as a formal people manager.

Reporting Relationship:

The Senior Project Manager– Industrial Power Generation reports to the Director of Sales – Generators

Location : Eden Prairie, MN.

Key Responsibilities

· Serve as a senior resource for the project management team supporting standby industrial power generation projects, including coaching, mentoring, training, workload visibility, and adoption of consistent execution practices.

· Operate in a senior player/coach capacity by managing assigned strategic, complex, or high-risk projects through all phases of execution, including order entry, planning, submittals, scheduling, commissioning, closeout, invoicing, and collection support.

· Develop, maintain, and support adoption of standardized project management processes, internal controls, documentation requirements, and communication practices to improve consistency, compliance, and execution quality.

· Serve as a technical resource related to generator systems, electrical integration, submittals, drawings, equipment layouts, commissioning requirements, and field execution considerations.

· Apply strong commercial discipline to assigned projects and support consistent practices related to scope, pricing, labor, logistics, contract administration, change control, billing milestones, margin preservation, and risk mitigation.

· Collaborate with sales, service, operations, finance, contractors, vendors, engineers, and customers to ensure effective project handoffs, timely issue resolution, and successful project outcomes.

· Identify, facilitate, and implement systems and process improvements that strengthen execution discipline, improve data quality, reduce operational risk, and support scalable business growth, including effective utilization and continuous enhancement of ERP, CRM, and related project management tools.

KPI Accountabilities

This position is accountable for achieving individual project execution outcomes and supporting broader team performance through consistent use of project management metrics, review practices, coaching, training, process discipline, and timely escalation of issues as appropriate.

Performance Accountabilities

· On-time completion of project initiation, submittals, approvals, scheduling milestones, and closeout deliverables across the project portfolio.

· Accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of project documentation, order entry, project snapshots, status reporting, and disciplined utilization of ERP, CRM, and internal systems to maintain data integrity and reporting reliability.

· Timely billing execution, milestone invoicing, and effective support of collection activities in coordination with finance and commercial stakeholders.

· Backlog visibility, project cycle time, and adherence to project execution standards designed to improve throughput and reduce delay.

· Gross margin preservation through disciplined scope control, change order execution, cost awareness, and timely escalation of commercial risks.

· Reduction in avoidable errors, rework, missed deliverables, and execution-related customer issues through process discipline, system utilization, standardization, coaching, and continual improvement of workflows.

· Achievement of defined customer service, responsiveness, and internal collaboration standards aligned to company expectations.

· Successful execution of assigned strategic, complex, or high-risk projects in accordance with scope, schedule, documentation, and commissioning requirements.

· Demonstrated effectiveness as a coach, mentor, trainer, and senior project resource who helps improve team capability, consistency, and execution discipline.

· Timely and accurate preparation of project reviews, KPI dashboards, performance reporting, and issue resolution plans, supported by disciplined ERP and CRM utilization and accurate maintenance of project records and performance data.

· Effective identification, communication, and escalation of project risk, technical or commercial issues, and recovery actions when project performance is off plan.

· Demonstrated technical competence in electrical power systems and generator applications, and commercial competence in project costing, contract administration, billing, and margin preservation.

· Active facilitation of continual process improvement, standard work development, training support, and cross-functional systems enhancement initiatives, including effective use and optimization of ERP, CRM, and related business tools to improve execution performance and organizational capability.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Core Capabilities

· Bachelor's degree; Electrical Engineering is preferred.

· Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or an equivalent advanced project management certification is preferred.

· Progressive experience in project management, electrical power systems, industrial power generation, or related equipment and construction environments, including responsibility for complex project portfolios, coaching others, training team members, or supporting process implementation.

· Demonstrated technical competence in generator systems, electrical integration, installation practices, submittals, drawings, specifications, commissioning requirements, and field execution considerations.

· Demonstrated commercial competence in project costing, pricing, change control, contract administration, billing milestones, gross margin preservation, and risk mitigation.

· Strong written and verbal communication, facilitation, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, ERP/CRM systems, OEM/vendor platforms, and the ability to support disciplined system utilization and continuous process improvement.
