SUMMARY: Reporting to the Social Work Manager, the Social Worker LSW evaluates, diagnoses, and treats a wide range of psychosocial problems, applying individual clinical social work skills to assist patients and families in resolving personal and environmental issues related to mental or physical illness. The role supports patient flow within inpatient units and adheres to the NASW Code of Ethics. Complete bio‑psychosocial evaluations to eliminate treatment barriers and enhance patient outcomes. Provide consultation on patient background and needs to medical and support staff to aid care planning. Develop and initiate treatment plans, using individual and group modalities, to improve health status and decision‑making. Document social work activity in medical records per departmental standards. Participate in collaborative care rounds, conferences, and community agencies to coordinate care and transition patients to less restrictive settings. Educate patients and families on medical and social work recommendations. Assess advocacy needs and coordinate services to improve social supports. Supervise field placements for BSW/MSW candidates (requires LICSW or ≥5 years of experience). Prepare case statistics, reports, and participate in studies, projects, trainings, and quality assurance activities. Maintain professional expertise through continuing education and training. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Basic Knowledge: Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited program and a current Rhode Island license (LCSW). Mandatory attainment of LICSW status when eligible. Experience: Six months to one year of clinical experience in health or mental health settings, with emphasis on populations served. Demonstrated skills in patient evaluation, treatment planning, and outcome assessment. Work Environment: Normal office environment with patient care exposure. Supervisory Responsibility: Provide guidance to Social Work Interns toward LICSW licensure.
