Quality Control Inspector II

Location: Jessup, MD
Position Type: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Reports To: Quality Supervisor

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a Quality Control Inspector II to join their manufacturing team. This role is responsible for inspecting components and assemblies for dimensional accuracy, workmanship, and quality standards while ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.

The ideal candidate will have experience using precision measuring tools, reading blueprints, and identifying non-conforming materials in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect parts and assemblies to ensure compliance with blueprints, specifications, and workmanship standards.
• Perform dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, hardness testers, and other inspection equipment.
• Verify all inspection equipment is properly calibrated before use.
• Review and verify manufacturing documentation, traveler sign-offs, certifications, and quality records for accuracy.
• Record inspection results and maintain required quality documentation.
• Generate non-conformance reports and report discrepancies to the Quality Supervisor.
• Assist with corrective action investigations and quality improvement initiatives.
• Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and other inspection equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all company quality, safety, and operational procedures.
• Complete assigned tasks independently while meeting production deadlines.
• Support additional quality and inspection activities as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments, including:
• • Calipers
  • Micrometers
  • Height gauges
  • Hardness testing equipment
• Experience operating CMM equipment preferred.
• Working knowledge of GD&T principles.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience in an AS9100 or similar quality-controlled manufacturing environment is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Frequent use of hands and arms to handle inspection tools and materials.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform bending, reaching, kneeling, and other physical activities as required.
• Must have close vision and the ability to inspect detailed parts and components.

Work Environment

• Manufacturing and production environment.
• Regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment.
• May be exposed to varying temperatures, noise levels, chemicals, airborne particles, and other industrial conditions.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.
