Technology Support Lead - IBM MQ Engineer

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We bring at least 5+ years of experience, or equivalent expertise, troubleshooting, resolving, and maintaining IT services.
• We have demonstrated experience delivering AI-driven solutions for a large IBM MQ estate, including log and metric correlation, anomaly detection, and forecasting to speed incident triage and root cause analysis.
• We have experience managing applications or infrastructure in large-scale environments across on-premises and public cloud platforms.
• We are proficient in observability and monitoring tools and techniques.
• We have experience working with processes aligned to the ITIL framework.
• We have hands-on experience operating middleware in enterprise production settings, including IBM MQ administration and incident response in secure environments.
• We demonstrate strong problem determination skills, a structured troubleshooting approach, and the ability to perform under pressure while maintaining operational discipline.
• We have working knowledge of Unix and/or Windows administration, including processes, filesystems, certificate stores, and basic networking concepts relevant to MQ connectivity.
• We possess strong written and verbal communication skills and can coordinate across distributed teams while managing customer expectations.
• We have working knowledge of one or more general-purpose programming languages, preferably Python and/or Java, as well as automation scripting.
• We have practical experience with public cloud environments.
• We can work a defined shift pattern within a 24x7 follow-the-sun operating model and support on-call or escalation coverage as needed.

• We apply technical expertise and problem-solving methods to projects of moderate scope.
• We lead workstreams or projects involving one or more infrastructure engineering technologies.
• We partner with other platforms to design and implement changes that resolve issues and modernize our organization and technology processes.
• We develop creative solutions for design, development, and technical troubleshooting of moderately complex problems.
• We assess upstream and downstream data, systems, and technical impacts, and recommend mitigation actions.
• We operate and support IBM MQ environments across development, testing, and production while maintaining service availability, stability, and compliance with internal standards.
• We support resilience objectives through disaster recovery planning, resilience coordination, and testing and validation activities.
• We apply reliability engineering practices by defining and improving service health indicators, operational thresholds, and actionable alerting to reduce noise and improve detection and recovery times.
• We maintain clear runbooks, standards, and controls that support consistent execution across a geographically distributed operations model.
• We reduce manual effort through automation, including scripted remediation, self-service workflows, and repeatable change execution such as certificate lifecycle tasks, configuration validation, and routine health checks.
• We contribute to blameless post-incident reviews, track corrective actions to completion, and verify effectiveness through measurable improvements.
• We provide technical guidance and responsive support to application teams integrating with MQ, including connection patterns, security constraints, and operational best practices.
• We support on-call and escalation coverage for high-severity incidents and during maintenance or resilience testing windows.
