We have been retained by a world-leading tier-one aerospace and defense company to find an experienced engineering manager, who will serve as the site team captain for aerospace and defense operations based in Saint Louis, Missouri, with the potential to grow talent, lead the team and drive change.Salary: 150-165kSustaining Engineering Responsibilities of the Engineering Manager:Manage a team of engineers supporting production, purchasing, and quality departments with engineering changes and issues.Provide technical assistance to sales and customer care, conduct internal and external customer training.Generate and update technical documents (drawings, reports, test forms/procedures).Develop products based on existing designs without a full development cycle.Support production corrective actions and product improvements, troubleshoot assembly/testing issues.Convert hand sketches to CAD, manage document control, approve technical drawings, and ensure controlled document distribution.Ensure team members are trained on the latest engineering policies and procedures.New Product Development Responsibilities of the Engineering Manager:Lead a team of engineers in new product development using the stage gate process.Identify and coordinate project staffing needs within NPD and support organizations.Resolve program-related issues and coordinate activities with other departments.Approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.Analyze test data to ensure designs meet program specifications.Interface with customers to understand and meet their needs.Provide progress reports to customers, the engineering team, and management.Prepare, review, and approve technical drawings and documents.Direct product data management and champion digital product definition for Essex.Suggest and implement improvements to department processes and procedures.Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements (import/export, ISO-14971, ISO-13485, AS-9100D, FDA).Ensure team members are trained on current engineering policies and proceduresRequirements of the Engineering Manager:BS in Engineering and a minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in engineering management and working in a related market or industry.The ideal Engineering Manager will have a strong background in manufacturing, with a focus on supporting production, quality, and product development.
