9074 - Loss Prevention Officer

Position Summary At Lids, our Loss Prevention Officers have many duties and responsibilities that are important to prevent the company from losing money and merchandise while keeping the shopping experience safe. Your primary duties will include patrolling store aisles, monitoring customers, watching security camera footage, and confronting individuals suspected of theft. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Monitor public areas for unusual activity and potential threats. Monitor security systems such as alarms and closed‑circuit cameras. Identify potential thieves from customers or staff. Follow and confront a potential person of interest suspected of shoplifting. Document theft and other violations of security and record observations. Work with law enforcement to detain suspects of shoplifting or dishonest employees. Develop security policies as experience allows. Protect people, money, equipment, and merchandise in retail stores. Collaborate with undercover store detectives to prevent shoplifting. Ensure the safety and security of company assets and property. Prevent theft, fraud, and other criminal activity. Conduct investigations and implement security measures. Train other employees on proper security procedures. Use good judgment to react effectively and efficiently in stressful situations, removing imminent danger of vandalism and theft. Communicate the situation clearly to employees and patrons. Observe people during work hours, maintaining alertness and quick decision‑making. Maintain patience and remain alert while standing for extended periods without distraction. Job Required Knowledge And Skills Two‑year post‑secondary education and one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven supervisory skills with the capacity to deliver training material and assess retention. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to operate a computer and relevant software programs. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to climb a ladder and work with hands overhead. Standing required for up to 100% of the work time. Ability and willingness to travel overnight for training and/or business meetings. Ability to work varying days and hours, based on business needs, and maintain an excellent attendance record. Physical and Travel Requirements Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Occasional ladder climbing and overhead work. Constant standing throughout the shift. Frequent walking during the shift. Frequent verbal communication with customers, employees, and other personnel. Frequent visual observation of the store and reading written or digital information. Pay Transparency Statement The hourly range for this position represents base pay only. Base pay will be determined by internal equity, geographic region, job‑related knowledge, skills, scheduled hours, and experience. A monthly store performance bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package depending on the employee’s role and organizational level. A cell phone stipend may be provided in certain geographical areas as required by law.
