Surgical Technologist

Facilitates the operative or other invasive procedures by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment. Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Functions as a scrub person during operative and other invasive procedures by assembling supplies and equipment required for the procedure. Prepares and organizes sterile supplies and instruments for the procedure. Performs accounting procedures in concert with the RN circulator. Assists with the placement of sterile drapes. Provides instruments and supplies to the surgical team during the procedure. Maintains an organized sterile field. Ensures the sterility of the field and takes corrective actions as needed. Prepares sterile dressings. Cleans and prepares surgical instruments for processing and transports them to the decontamination areas. Assists with post-procedure cleaning of the operative or other invasive procedure room and preparation of the room for subsequent patients. Participates in ongoing educational and competency verification activities applicable to scrub person activities. Maintains privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information. Supports the organization's mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures. Participates in required education for applicable programs as necessary for the position. Agency nurses will be floated to other departments where they are qualified to perform patient care before core staff is floated. Performs other related duties as assigned.
