Freelance Art Handler, Crozier

Crozier Fine Arts is seeking experienced and self‑motivated Freelance Art Handling Specialists to join our team in New Castle, DE. What You’ll Do (Responsibilities) Handle, move, wrap, pack, and crate a diverse range of objects—including fine art, decorative arts, and furniture—using proper techniques and materials to ensure damage‑free preservation and transit preparation. Collaborate with clients, driving teams, and company management by acting as the onsite liaison, determining project strategy, and ensuring clear communication and follow‑through. Ensure compliance with the highest industry standards by planning, organizing, and loading trucks for safety during transit, conducting inspection reports, and maintaining discretion on all projects. Install/uninstall art for onsite projects and load/unload trucks to ensure safe transit. Spend approximately 5% of time on a laptop/desktop computer or telephone to manage project logistics. Load, unload, and organize the truck’s interior to ensure the utmost safety and integrity of all objects during transit, including conducting inspection reports for various types of art objects. What You’ll Bring (Skills & Qualifications) Minimum 1 year of experience in art handling within a gallery, museum, or commercial fine‑art space. Strong knowledge of industry‑standard techniques and materials for packing, crating, installing, and uninstalling artwork. Proven ability in effective communication, self‑motivation, attention to detail, and working as a team player. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to regional locations for onsite work. Physical capability to lift, move, push, and pull heavy objects (in excess of 75 lb), bend, kneel, crouch, and stand, and willingness to work flexible hours based on project needs. Ability to safely operate a 26‑ft box truck, at minimum. Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and ability to pass all driving checks (CDL license not required but preferred). What We Offer (Benefits) Pay: $20.00 /hr (negotiable depending on experience). Hours: Scheduling determined by workload; Monday through Friday, 16‑24 hours per week. Location: New Castle, DE.
