Occupational Safety and Health Data Analyst

Job Description Review workplace injury, illness, and fatality records and apply standardized case‑classification codes using the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Occupational Injury and Illness Classification System (OIICS). Exercise thoughtful, independent judgment to accurately classify complex or ambiguous cases while maintaining speed and consistency. Draft brief, clear incident narratives that summarize the circumstances of each case in plain, concise language. Manage multiple work queues and deadlines while maintaining high quality and attention to detail. Collaborate regularly with team members and senior analysts for guidance, quality checks, and knowledge sharing. Contribute to documentation, process improvements, and evolving analytical practices over time. Experience with occupational health and safety and structured coding (e.g. OIICS, ICD coding) is preferred. However, training for OIICS version 3.03 coding will be provided. Qualifications and Skills A bachelor’s degree in communications, health/environmental science, statistics, or related field Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail, with the ability to apply rules consistently Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely Outstanding time-management and organizational skills with the ability to work independently in a remote environment to accomplish assignments in a timely manner Experience or strong interest in data analysis, public health, occupational safety, epidemiology, or related fields Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint) Willingness and ability to learn new software and technical skills as required Preferred Qualifications Experience with structured classification or coding systems (e.g., OIICS, ICD, or similar) Experience or coursework in data analysis or data management Familiarity with SAS, R, Power BI, Qlik, or other analytical tools Prior exposure to occupational health, injury or illness surveillance, or public health research Salary $58,000 - $70,000 a year ERG offers competitive salaries and excellent benefits, including health and dental insurance, life insurance, long‑term disability, educational benefits, FSAs, a generous 401(k) plan, profit sharing, an EAP, 11‑20 paid vacation days per year, 10 paid holidays per year, 56 or more hours of sick leave (based on the state you work in) per year (pro‑rated for part‑time) and more.
