Program Coordinator

SEMCIL 2200 2nd St SW Rochester, MN 55902, USA Description Hybrid Position We’re looking for a compassionate and solutions-focused Independent Living Coordinator to join our multi‑functional team. IL Coordinators provide core IL services, including IL skills training, advocacy, information and referral, and transition services. They guide individuals in identifying and achieving goals and provide training, coaching, and other supports. IL Coordinators also assist with organizing and facilitating workshops, classes, and activities, and create and build community initiatives and relationships. As an IL Coordinator, you’ll partner directly with individuals to provide: Goal‑Oriented Support: Collaborate with individuals to develop personalized goal plans and deliver IL services designed to achieve those goals. Solution‑Focused Assistance: Research, explore, and assess various options to address complex challenges, offering individuals informed and actionable solutions. Advocacy and Empowerment: Foster an environment that encourages choice, self‑advocacy, and skill‑building, empowering individuals to navigate challenges effectively. Core Skills Passionate about equity, independence, and inclusion. A belief in the Independent Living philosophy. Professional experience working with people with disabilities. Excellent problem‑solving skills and a knack for navigating complex systems. Empathy, patience, and strong communication skills. Knowledge of community resources, disability services, and supports available to individuals. Proficiency with technology and virtual collaboration tools. Skilled at resolving conflicts, balancing competing priorities, and building positive relationships across teams and external partners. Strong communication skills across written, verbal, and virtual platforms. Qualifications A working knowledge of the Independent Living Movement, Independent Living Philosophy, and the history of Centers for Independent Living (CILs). Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services related field, or lived/work experience in lieu of formal education. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a disability or human services role, or related field required. Valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review or ability to commute as required. Lawfully authorized to work in the United States.
