Tetra Tech is seeking an Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician to support our systems integration and engineering services team. As an I&E Technician, you will support the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation, electrical, control, measurement, and communications systems primarily within upstream and midstream oil and gas environments.

The I&E Technician performs field-based installation, configuration, calibration, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical and instrumentation systems supporting industrial oil and gas operations. This position works with electrical power, control, measurement, safety, instrumentation, communications, and automation systems associated with process, compression, and metering equipment. The I&E Technician also provides day-to-day direction to apprentice-level crew members and supports the successful and safe completion of field activities. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge of industrial electrical and instrumentation systems, the ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematics, and hands-on experience supporting upstream and midstream oil and gas facilities.

• Install electrical power, control, measurement, instrumentation, communications, and safety systems supporting upstream and midstream oil and gas operations.
• Install conduit and MC-HL cable in accordance with applicable National Electrical Code requirements and project specifications.
• Install, configure, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot field instrumentation and associated control systems.
• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain relays, variable frequency drives (VFDs), wireless and hard-wired instrumentation, controllers, and related electrical equipment.
• Install, wire, loop test, configure, and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs), remote terminal units (RTUs), and electronic flow measurement (EFM) systems.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot radios, cellular modems, and associated communications networks.
• Perform electrical and instrumentation work associated with process, compression, and metering equipment used within upstream and midstream oil and gas facilities.
• Interpret, understand, and support modifications to electrical schematics, drawings, wiring diagrams, and related technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems, switchgear, circuits, instrumentation, and related equipment to identify and resolve operational issues.
• Perform work on low- and medium-voltage equipment and circuits within the individual's training and qualifications.
• Use electrical testing and calibration equipment, including multimeters, meggers, amp probes, HART communicators, loop calibrators, and similar diagnostic equipment.
• Maintain accurate and detailed work records, reports, and other required project documentation.
• Delegate appropriate tasks and responsibilities to apprentice-level crew members and provide field guidance as needed.
• Identify potential workplace hazards and perform assigned duties in accordance with established safety requirements and procedures.
• Coordinate and communicate effectively with project management, engineering, operations, systems, field personnel, customers, and other project stakeholders.
• Adapt to changing project requirements and manage multiple assignments or priorities while meeting project deadlines and customer expectations.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of five (5) years of instrumentation and electrical experience within industrial oil and gas environments.
• Demonstrated experience supporting the installation of instrumentation and electrical systems and equipment throughout multiple phases of industrial projects.
• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable NFPA 70E electrical safety requirements.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, switchgear, circuit types, and electrical components commonly used within the oil and gas industry.
• Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics, drawings, wiring diagrams, and related technical documentation.
• Demonstrated experience installing, calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting process instrumentation.
• Experience installing, wiring, loop testing, configuring, and troubleshooting PLCs, RTUs, and EFMs.
• Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting radios and cellular modems.
• Ability to safely perform work involving low- and medium-voltage equipment and circuits consistent with applicable training and qualifications.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, technical, and functional skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize work and meet established deadlines.
• Ability to work collaboratively with management, engineering, operations, systems, and field personnel.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and adjust priorities as project requirements change.

• Applicable regulatory and safety training required for assigned duties.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving and insurance requirements.
• Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% as required by project and customer needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Additional technical training or certifications related to industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, automation, controls, or oil and gas operations.
• Experience supporting both upstream and midstream oil and gas facilities.
• Experience providing work direction or technical guidance to apprentice-level or junior field personnel.
• Familiarity with software used to configure EFMs, cellular modems, radios, and industrial communications networks.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform field-based electrical and instrumentation work for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Ability to safely navigate industrial facilities, project sites, and other field environments while carrying and using required tools and testing equipment.
• Ability to perform work that may require standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, crouching, kneeling, and working in varying positions.
• Ability to operate hand tools, electrical testing equipment, calibration equipment, and computer equipment required to perform assigned duties.
• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle as required for business travel and transportation between project locations.
• Must be able to meet applicable fit-for-duty requirements associated with assigned field activities.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:

• Work is performed primarily in field and industrial oil and gas environments.
• Work may be performed at upstream and midstream facilities, including process, compression, and metering locations.
• Field conditions may include exposure to outdoor weather conditions, varying temperatures, industrial noise, operating equipment, electrical systems, and other conditions typical of active industrial facilities.
• The position may be subject to project deadlines, customer requirements, changing priorities, and time-sensitive assignments.
• Employees are required to comply with applicable company, customer, project, and regulatory safety requirements while performing field activities.

Additional Information:

• This is a full-time, field-based position and is not eligible for remote work.
• The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday; however, overtime, extended hours, and weekend work may be required based on project deadlines and customer needs.
• The position requires approximately 50% travel based on project assignments and business needs.
• Per diem may be provided to defray eligible travel, meal, and lodging expenses in accordance with applicable company policy and law.
• A valid driver's license is required, and employees must meet company motor vehicle and insurance requirements.
