About the Role:

Substation Groundman is a position in the construction, maintenance and repair of substation equipment/systems. This position works at various locations and may also be required to travel to another state depending on customer demands.

You Will:

• Assist with building concrete foundations, ground grids, and steel erection Buswork (high and low voltage)

• Assist in the testing of gas driven internal combustion engines that power electric generators

• Assist in collection and monitoring emissions to control data and troubleshooting engines, generators, and switchgear.

• Learn to read and interpret drawings and blueprints

• Digging trenches, climbing poles, towers etc. to perform duties

• Assist in troubleshooting and repairing substation equipment/systems as required

• Maintains company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.

• Contribute to the development of and participate in the delivery of the Pre-Job Briefing

• Work from a bucket or climb different types of structures at various heights.

• Work may be performed in confined spaces.

• Operate River City Vehicles and equipment

Required Qualifications:

· 6 months of construction experience or graduation from line school

· Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record

· Ability to read/write and communicate effectively

· Able to travel long distances at short notice, when required.

· Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.

· Able to lift an excess 50 lbs.

· Willing to work overtime when requested.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel; and reach with hands and arms. Work is physically demanding, and employees must be capable of frequent lifting and carrying heavy (50-75 pounds) equipment and materials.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
