Middle School Physical Education/Health TeacherBronx, New YorkDr. Richard Izquierdo Health & Science Charter School is seeking certified, or on the pathway to, an experienced Physical Education and Health teacher to provide instruction to our Middle school students. Under the general supervision of the MS Principal, Physical Education teachers work collaboratively with other teachers within their department and across other content areas.ResponsibilitiesContent Knowledge and PlanningExhibit an understanding of and skills relevant to the subject area(s) taught (Physical Education and Health)Demonstrate an ability to make topics and activities meaningful and relevant to each studentIntegrate available technology resources compatible with students' needs and abilitiesDevelop lesson plans that are clear, logical, and sequentialPlan with appropriate specialist(s) to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all studentsInstructional StrategiesLink present content/skills with past and future learning experiencesEffectively use various instructional strategies (e.g., modeling, cooperative learning, collaboration, and reading and writing in the content areas) to differentiate learning for all studentsEffectively use questioning strategies to engage students and promote learningMonitor students' understanding of the lesson and adjusts teaching when appropriateMaximize student learning by providing opportunities for all learners to participate actively and successfullyExplain content and demonstrates skills in a variety of ways to meet the needs of all studentsHold each learner individually responsible for learningAssessmentUse results of a variety of assessments to monitor and modify instruction as neededEffectively use both teacher-made and standardized tests, as appropriate, to measure student 2 years prior teaching experience in middle school preferredDemonstrated success working in non-traditional and/or urban school settingsExcellent oral and written communication skillsExperience with educational technologySupervisory ResponsibilitiesNonePosition Type and Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time 10-month position. This is an On-Site position; no hybrid or remote.
