Work Shift Night (United States of America) Job Summary The Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for medication administration and implementing respiratory care based on expanded knowledge, experience, and the evaluate‑and‑treat process. The RT II delivers patient care in complex, multiple problem‑patient situations, predominantly in critical care areas with protocol ventilator management, significant independent decision‑making, and self‑direction. The RT II also provides patient and family education, coordinates activities, participates in staff development, and engages in professional and personal development activities. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Provide Customer Service Complete patient care, documentation, and education Approach service with a team mindset Promote a team spirit and positive work environment Create a supportive environment for students and staff Administers Quality Patient Care Perform patient assessment and therapy assessments Collaborate with health‑care team members in planning patient care Verify orders and administer aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, volume expansion, oxygen, and medical gas therapy Manage ventilator weaning and interpret waveform graphics; handle airway management (intubation, extubation, trach tube change and care) Perform arterial blood gas sampling and analysis Educate patients and mentor/precept new employees, students, and peers Assist in invasive and non‑invasive procedures, cardiac service procedures, and pulmonary diagnostic testing (location specific) Provide Safe & Quality Environment Promote accurate electronic orders, charting, and charging Advance patient safety (Medication Safety, NPSG, etc.) Support performance‑improvement initiatives designed to promote quality care Adopt evidence‑based practice Review revised and new DPPs Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Required Minimum Education Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy or Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred) Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) NBRC‑RRT – Registered Respiratory Therapist RCP – Respiratory Care Prof BLS – Basic Life Support (or ARC‑BLS, BLS‑I) ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support (or ARC‑ALS, ACLS‑I) Required Minimum Experience 0–2 years of clinical experience with a minimum of 6 months in critical care.
