Control system upgrades Arc Flash Awareness Job Title Industrial Electrician - 2nd Shift Position Overview Position Purpose This Industrial Electrician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving electrical and control systems that support manufacturing operations. This role helps ensure safe, reliable, and efficient equipment performance while supporting production, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives. 2nd Shift: 4PM-12AM Position Expectations The Electrician is expected to perform assigned duties with a strong focus on: Safe work practices following OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E, and facility safety requirements High-quality workmanship delivered with a customer-service mindset Compliance with established maintenance standards and best practices Continuous development of technical skills and equipment knowledge Effective communication regarding troubleshooting findings, repair needs, and improvement opportunities Supporting teamwork and collaboration across maintenance and operations Key Responsibilities Maintain Electrical & Automation Systems Perform maintenance, repair, and installation activities on a variety of manufacturing equipment and systems, including: Motors and motor controls Electrical distribution systems MCCs, drives, inverters, converters, and reactors PLCs and industrial control systems Robotics and automation equipment Facility electrical systems Troubleshoot & Repair Equipment Diagnose and resolve electrical, control, and process-related equipment issues affecting safety, quality, or production. Identify root causes of equipment failures Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics Perform testing and verification of repairs Document findings and recommend improvements Perform Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Support and execute maintenance activities designed to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime. Complete preventive maintenance inspections and tasks Repair or replace components based on equipment condition Assist with maintenance planning and documentation updates Use CMMS systems to manage work orders and maintenance records Support Projects & Continuous Improvement Assist with equipment upgrades, installations, and reliability initiatives. Typical Work May Include Motor and drive replacement Control system upgrades PLC hardware installation Equipment modifications Process improvement projects Production and quality enhancement initiatives Support Team Success Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams Share knowledge and assist in developing less experienced team members Participate in training and skill development opportunities Support a culture of safety, reliability, and continuous improvement Required Knowledge & Skills Safety Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Arc Flash Awareness PPE requirements Confined Space, Hot Work, and Fall Protection practices Safe use of lifting and material handling equipment Technical Skills Electrical troubleshooting and repair Reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation Knowledge of industrial electrical systems and controls Understanding of PLCs, drives, motors, sensors, and automation components Basic understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics Tools & Technology Experience Using Tools Such As Digital Multimeters (DMMs) Megohmmeters Calibrators and testing equipment Network cable testing tools Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) Math & Problem Solving Electrical calculations Unit conversions Understanding of voltage, current, resistance, and power relationships Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills Qualifications Required High School Diploma or GED Previous electrical maintenance, industrial electrician, or related technical experience Ability to troubleshoot electrical and control systems Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics Preferred Manufacturing or industrial maintenance experience Technical school, apprenticeship, military, or vocational training in electrical systems Experience with PLCs, VFDs, robotics, automation, or industrial control systems Electrical certifications or related technical credentials Competencies Work Standards Solve Problems Build Customer Satisfaction Collaborate Work Shift 8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts PM Shaw Industries is an equal opportunity employer as to all protected groups, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities. #J-18808-Ljbffr Shaw Contract EMEA
