Laboratory/Analytical Chemist
JOB TYPE: Full Time
PAY RATE: based on experience
Onyx Testing is the leader in quality assurance and regulatory compliance testing for medical marijuana in Maryland. We are a building a rapidly growing analytical laboratory that performs a variety of assays for this rapidly growing sector. Our state-of-the-art lab is located in Hagerstown. We are seeking to build a collaborative team environment within our Hagerstown laboratory, and currently have an open position for an Laboratory/Analytical Chemist.
Must be comfortable working with and around cannabis products. All employment offers will be contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES:
• Understand and follow Quality System documents relevant to responsibilities, e.g., Quality Manual, SOPs, and Methods
• Adhere to appropriate quality measures to meet or exceed the standards set by ISO/IEC 17025 and company requirements relevant to assigned duties
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations relative to assigned analytical work; maintain and assist others in maintaining a clean, safe work environment
• Maintain a neat and accurate record system; keep accurate records of work performed on a daily basis
• Routine laboratory tasks such as cleaning glassware and maintaining chemical inventory/ordering supplies as needed
QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Current or prior lab experience
• Familiarity and proficiency with maintenance of Gas Chromatographs coupled to Mass Spectrometers (GC/MS), HPLC and ICP/MS or the analytical knowledge to learn these machines
• Proficient in the analysis of data produced by our analytical machines
• GC/MS method development experience a plus
• Experience in sample preparation for GC-MS analysis
• Experience with pesticide residue analysis a plus
• Experience with triple quadrupole mass spectrometers
• Experience with headspace auto-samplers a plus
• Experience with residual solvent analysis a plus
• Experience with microbial testing analysis a plus
• Experience using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
• Proficient in the use of basic laboratory hardware such as balances, syringes, and pipettes
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Responsive problem solver and action oriented
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel data manipulation
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Degree in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related science from an accredited college or university; - MUST HAVE experience running HPLC, GCMS, ICP/MS or you will not be considered
• Coursework in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university and 1 years full-time practical experience.
