Dietary Aide

Job Details: Job Location: Brookwood Care Community - Cincinnati, OH 45241; Position Type: Full-Time; Education Level: High School; Salary Range: $15.00 - $17.00; Travel Percentage: None; Job Shift: Any.

Key Responsibilities

• Meal Preparation and Service:
  • Assist in preparing and serving meals according to established menus and dietary guidelines, including special diets such as diabetic, low‑sodium, or gluten‑free.
  • Ensure that food is served in an attractive and timely manner, following portion control and resident preferences.
  • Prepare food trays, deliver meals to residents or patients, and assist with food delivery to common areas or individual rooms as needed.
• Dietary Compliance:
  • Follow dietary instructions for residents or patients with specific medical needs, ensuring that meals meet their nutritional requirements.
  • Ensure proper portion sizes and follow meal plans to accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences.
• Sanitation and Safety:
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen and dining areas, including washing dishes, cleaning tables, and sanitizing equipment.
  • Follow all food safety regulations and facility policies to ensure a clean and safe environment for food preparation and service.
  • Ensure that kitchen and dining areas meet local, state, and federal food safety regulations.
• Inventory and Supplies:
  • Assist in maintaining and restocking food supplies, condiments, and utensils as needed.
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify the dietary supervisor when supplies need to be ordered.
• Resident and Patient Interaction:
  • Provide excellent customer service to residents, patients, and families, responding to questions and special requests promptly and courteously.
  • Help residents and patients with meal‑related needs, such as serving beverages, providing additional utensils, or addressing dietary concerns.
• Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with cooks, dietary supervisors, and other kitchen staff to ensure the efficient and smooth operation of meal service.
  • Assist with kitchen duties, including food preparation and setup for meals.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience in food service or a healthcare environment is preferred but not required. On‑the‑job training will be provided.
• Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation procedures.
