Safety Technician

Job DescriptionPurposeResponsible for basic safety leadership and coordination while supporting execution of safety expectations at the facility.Key ResponsibilitiesAct as a resource to plant manager and team coordinators in supporting their efforts to achieve Company and facility safety metrics; lead and or assist in executing safety initiatives and safety goals in the facility specific EHS planInterpretation, education and enforcement of appropriate safety regulations, safety rules and work rulesMonitoring, analyzing and procuring safety supplies and equipmentConducting, analyzing and prioritizing results of regular safety inspectionsMonitoring and updating of J.S.A. sheets, MSDS booksAnalysis of incidents and development of preventative, educational and training programsDevelop and maintain effective communications with injured team members, workers’ compensation department and medical community as appropriate and assignedWork closely with safety committees and their developmentCollect safety related data and input into eComplianceSupport plant safety expectations through specific safety functions as requiredParticipates in achieving the goals of the safety organizationCollaborate with cross-functional teams to support safety-related project tasksAct as a resource/support multiple plants as assignedModels company core valuesRequired QualificationsCommitted to working toward obtaining an Associate’s degree in Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene or related field and receiving degree within 3 years of placementExcellent listening, written and verbal communications skillsAbility to make decisions and maintain composure in high-pressure situationsExperience operating a PC with the Microsoft suite of programsProven results driven leaderDemonstrated understanding of company safety policies and applicable occupational safety and health regulationsStrong teaching, coaching, facilitation, and mentoring skillsMaintain the highest ethical standards in dealing with confidential informationAbility to work in and maintain a highly functional team environmentPreferred QualificationsGeneral Industry Safety experienceTwo plus years advanced educationAbout Roseburg Forest ProductsFounded in 1936, Roseburg Forest Products is a privately held company based in Springfield, Oregon.
