Position Title: Youth CoordinatorLocation: CVEA Office, 14665 Rd 192, Poplar, CA 93257 Reports To: Director, Organizing and ProgramsStatus: Non-exempt, Hourly, Regular, Full-TimeBenefits: Benefits Eligible Salary: $19.00 - $26.00 About Central Valley Empowerment AllianceEstablished in 2019, the Central Valley Empowerment Alliance (CVEA) is a grassroots community development organization serving rural farmworker communities in the counties of Madera, Fresno, Kings, Tulare and Kern in the Central Valley. CVEA applies Saul Alinskys grassroots community development organizing model of hundreds of one-on-one and house meetings. CVEA also holds fundamental beliefs that those most impacted are the experts. Centering meeting the community where they are at, with no judgment to lead its work. CVEA defines its own model of organizing as an expression of Radical Love.Position OverviewThe Youth Coordinator will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of youth-centered social justice programming. This role is responsible for designing curriculum that empowers young people to engage in advocacy, leadership development, civic participation, and community organizing for our different programs such as LUPEs Promise as well as our summer and after school programs. The Youth Coordinator will provide direct supervision to the Youth Organizer, who works directly with youth and implements the Youth Coordinators curriculum's. Key ResponsibilitiesWorking with the Youth Organizer to design culturally responsive curriculum's and oversee program development centered around our Youth initiatives.Cultivate partnerships with schools, community organizations and advocacy groups and support youth-led campaigns, events and community initiatives.Coordinate the entire required scope of work for each program by managing participating vendors, community involvement as well as maintaining the event planning, calendar of events, the facility where these programs take place, ordering necessary supplies, preparations for the event or program as well as cleanup logistics.Ensure that each participant has the required consent forms, emergency contact information and medical clearances.With the assistance of the Director, Organizing and Programs, develop annual program goals, timelines and measurable outcomes and prepare program wrap up reporting to the Director.Other responsibilities as assigned.Evenings, weekends and occasional overnights required based on program and organizational need.QualificationsExperience working with young people and their responsible adultsStrong organizational and multitasking skillsDemonstrated commitment to social justice, community and youth empowerment.Experience in community organizing, advocacy, or a related area.Excellent communication and facilitation skills.Bilingual abilities strongly preferred.Working Conditions/Physical RequirementsMust be able to occasionally lift up to 15 lbs.Able to remain in a stationary sitting position for up to 50% of the time.Able to frequently work outside in adverse weather and terrain as required by CVEA programming.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
