Admission Access Clerk - Patient Services

Join a dedicated healthcare team as an Admission Access Clerk, where you will play a vital role in admitting, pre-admitting, and transferring patients within a busy emergency department setting during weekend night shifts. This position requires a commitment to exceptional customer service and maintaining respectful relationships with patients and staff alike.

Essential Functions

• Collect and verify all necessary demographic and insurance information to admit or pre-admit patients, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and maintaining a high accuracy rate.
• Notify financial counselors regarding private pay or uncertain insurance coverage cases.
• Distribute admission paperwork promptly to relevant departments and personnel.
• Assist with patient transport as needed, serving a diverse patient population from newborns to the elderly.
• Adhere strictly to privacy and security regulations concerning Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Collect co-pays, coinsurance, and deductibles according to insurance eligibility and contracts, process patient payments, and complete daily deposits.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills

• Basic clerical, computer, and keyboarding skills.
• Effective communication abilities.

• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Previous clerical and computer experience.
