Litigation Paralegal

Sharpe Allen PLLC is seeking an experienced, highly motivated in-person, full-time Litigation Paralegal to join our growing law practice in Fort Worth, Texas. Our practice includes a variety of cases with the majority of our cases being civil litigation in both state and federal courts and appeals and probate litigation, as well as general legal matters involving estate planning and administration, business matters, and nonprofit and church organizations. Compensation Starting salary: $75,000 annually and negotiable depending on experience, qualifications, and knowledge. Health, dental, and vision with health savings account contributions by employer included for employee at no additional cost and available for family with additional cost to employee; Paid vacation of up to 10 days per year and additional sick time of 5 days per year; Occasional work from home flexibility. Responsibilities The Litigation Paralegal will work closely with attorneys and clients and will be responsible for a broad range of litigation and legal-support duties, including: Assisting attorneys with civil litigation in state and federal courts and probate litigation and appeals; Preparing, organizing, and maintaining litigation files online; Drafting and formatting pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents including appellate filings in state and federal court; Assisting with responding to discovery, including requests to clients and initial responses; Managing discovery documents and electronic document databases; Conducting some legal and factual research; Preparing deposition, hearing and trial materials, exhibit binders, chronologies, witness materials, and notebooks; Assisting with hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials; Monitoring court deadlines, filing deadlines, discovery deadlines, and case calendars; Preparing and filing documents through state and federal electronic filing systems; Communicating professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, and other professionals; Assisting with probate and estate-related litigation and administration; Assisting with business, estate, nonprofit, and church-related legal matters as needed; Maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound judgment with sensitive client information; and Performing other duties necessary to support the attorneys and the firm's clients. Required Qualifications Prior paralegal Texas civil litigation experience (area of experience is not as important as litigation knowledge); Strong knowledge of litigation procedures including common deadlines, discovery, and next steps as the process progresses; Familiar with Texas Rules of Civil Procedure; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail; Ability to manage multiple matters, prioritize tasks, and competing deadlines; Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a small legal team; Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard legal technology; Professional demeanor and excellent client-service skills; and High degree of integrity, discretion, reliability, and personal responsibility. Preferred Qualifications Experience with civil litigation concerning general business matters and non-profits; Experience with probate litigation; Experience in federal courts; Experience preparing for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials; and Familiarity with Texas Estates Code.
