Your clinical expertise, leadership, and ability to confidently navigate both everyday and unexpected challenges will shape the camper experience before, during, and after camp. This is an opportunity to bring your nursing leadership to a place where excellent care and meaningful connection go hand in hand.
Your Impact: Your leadership helps make camp possible for children with serious illnesses and their families. You ensure that campers receive exceptional medical care while creating the confidence and support they need to participate fully in the camp experience. By leading with clinical expertise, compassion, and creativity, you help campers and families trust that their needs will be met, allowing them to focus on what camp is all about: connection, belonging, and being a kid.
Flying Horse Farms is a place where your work connects directly to something meaningful. Together, we create medically-safe camp experiences where kids with serious illnesses can find hope, joy, and belonging—always at no cost.
It takes every role, every team, and an all-in commitment to make the mission possible.

- Supervise the Nursing Coordinator and collaborate with the Medical Director in year-round clinical and camp planning.
- Ensure readiness of WellNest medical facility including inventory of medications, equipment, and supplies ensuring that all are in stock, working order and within expiration dates.
- Develop and maintain nursing and medical protocols in collaboration with the Medical Director.
- Recruit, interview, screen, and train volunteer and seasonal nursing staff
- Medically screen campers with active participation in camper placement processes analyzing camper acuity of sessions.

In Camp Sessions :
- Lead in-camp nursing operations, ensuring safe, effective, and well-coordinated care while supervising nursing staff and hosting medical volunteers.
- Serve as a member of the in-session Operations Leadership Team, partnering across departments to anticipate needs, solve complex problems, make real-time operational decisions, and support the success of the overall camp experience.
- Fulfill a role on the emergency staffing table coordinating medical response to an emergency

Flying Horse Farms (FHF) makes it possible for kids with serious illnesses to heal, grow, and thrive – at no cost to families. Located on 200 acres in Mt. Gilead, Ohio, camp first opened its gates in 2010 and hosts ~1,000 children and families each year.
FHF is the first camp in the Midwest to become a full member of the SeriousFun Children’s Network. Founded in 1988 by actor, philanthropist and Ohio native Paul Newman, the Network is a community of independently managed and financed camps and programs creating opportunities for children with serious illnesses and their families.
At FHF, for a weekend or week at a time, kids focus on the joy and freedom of simply being a kid, and with safety being the number one priority, fun is a close second. Campers receive high-quality care at our on-site health center, staffed 24/7 by clinicians from children’s hospitals across Ohio and beyond.
