Job Description Summary Under general supervision, the Certified Surgical Tech II follows established procedural guides in preparing sterile supplies and equipment used in surgical procedures, performs room duties involving direct patient care, and functions autonomously as part of the operating room team. Entity Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) Job Summary Under general supervision, the Certified Surgical Tech II follows established procedural guides in the preparation of sterile supplies and equipment used in the surgical procedures, performs appropriate room duties involving direct patient care, and functions autonomously as a member of the operating room team. Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and behaviors consistent with competent practice. Competency develops when candidates employ higher‑level critical thinking and problem‑solving skills, possess advanced surgical skills for their area of practice, and apply knowledge to emergency situations. They plan and collaborate with peers to assess the needs of the patient and surgeon during procedures, assist with deliveries, restocking, instrument flow, and customer service. Responsibilities Prepare sterile supplies and equipment according to procedural guides. Perform room duties involving patient care and support of surgical procedures. Assist providers and nurses with deliveries and instrument flow. Maintain instrument flow and supply restocking. Provide front‑desk customer service and engagement. Qualifications High School Diploma and graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or military program. At least one year of work experience as a Certified Surgical Tech. Certified Surgical Technologist credential (NBSATS, formerly LCC‑ST) maintained. Basic Life Support certification within 2 weeks of hire and thereafter continuously renewed. Strong communication, teamwork, and critical‑thinking skills. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb stairs, work indoors and outdoors in temperature extremes, work in confined spaces, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., fine and gross motor skills, vision and hearing ability, work rotating shifts, overtime, latex‑safe environment, and respirator use as required.
