Assembly and Test Specialist 2nd Shift

Career Area: Operations Job Description As an Assembly and Test Specialist for East Peoria Undercarriage at Caterpillar Inc., you will continuously improve process efficiency by performing routine assembly and testing of assemblies of our prime product. Additional Information This is a full-time supplemental position. This is a 2nd shift position, Mon – Fri 3pm -11pm. Location: East Peoria, IL 61630. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position. Candidates must be able to read, write and conduct business in English. Ability to work overtime when required. What You Will Do Assemble, test, rework and repair machine components. Operate test machines to test final drive assemblies. Prepare prime products and attachments for shipping. Perform required salvage operations in assembly areas as necessary. Disassemble and reassemble complex assemblies to repair or replace damaged component parts. Operate remote control crane to specially equipped vehicles to transport prime product. Caterpillar will train applicants who have a strong employment history and work ethic. Physical Skills: Must lift up to 35 pounds individually, or up to 70 pounds as a team lift, work in environments with changing temperatures, heights up to 30 feet, handle 50‑pound loads, walk, squat and bend for 15–30 minutes, stand up to 8+ hours on concrete, climb ladders up to 6 feet, and work in noise levels up to 85 dB. What You Have Safety: Conduct daily maintenance, keep safety logs, inspect work environment, use PPE, speak up about concerns, and maintain 5S housekeeping concepts. Manufacturing Processes: Document relevant standards, follow standard production processes, and perform basic computer tasks. Mechanical/Machinery: Use, operate and maintain complex tools and machinery, and understand equipment operation. Collaboration: Work with team members, maintain a positive attitude, and prioritize strong attendance. Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Ensure inventory accuracy, learn from mistakes, use checklists, and perform quality checks accurately. Effective Communications: Use verbal and non‑verbal communication, demonstrate professionalism, and focus on team collaboration. What You Will Get Starting wage: $23.22/hour with a $1 shift premium for off shifts. Overtime opportunities paid, time and a half (some may be mandatory). Supplemental roles receive benefits, including 40 hours of paid personal time per year prorated, tax‑deferred retirement plan after 1,000 hours, and opportunity to enroll in a consumer‑driven health plan.
