Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Diesel Mechanic role located in Brockton, MA. The Diesel Mechanic will inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel trucks and heavy equipment used in waste and recycling operations. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing scheduled preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and completing repairs on engines, hydraulics, brakes, and related systems. The role involves maintaining accurate maintenance records, following safety and environmental procedures, and coordinating with operations staff to minimize equipment downtime. The Diesel Mechanic will also help identify parts and materials needed, keep the shop organized, and support continuous improvement of maintenance practices. Qualifications Strong skills in Diesel Mechanics and Heavy Equipment repair, including diagnosis and corrective actions on trucks and related equipment. Experience in Vehicle Maintenance and Equipment Maintenance, with the ability to perform routine service and complex repairs. Knowledge of Preventive Maintenance practices, including inspection schedules, lubrication, and component replacement. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance software effectively and safely. Understanding of shop safety standards, DOT regulations, and basic environmental compliance related to waste services. Previous experience as a diesel mechanic or fleet technician, preferably in waste, construction, or transportation industries. High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in diesel technology or automotive repair is preferred. Ability to lift and move heavy components, work in varying weather conditions, and stand or bend for extended periods. Valid driver’s license; commercial driver’s license (CDL) is a plus.
